A couple of days, I registered my longest domain name. I always wanted to try this. Each domain label can hold up to 63 characters. Instead of registering just a domain name with random words or characters, I chose the longest place name in the world – a hill in the North of New Zealand. The place name is 85 characters long compared to "just" 58 characters of the Welsh village linked in the Wikipedia article which is often mentioned as the longest domain name.

I also encountered an issue: My domain provider can only issue SSL certificates for domains incl. TLD with a maximum of 64 characters. My domain is 2 letters too long. Using Cloudflare SSL, it worked.

What's the longest domain name in your portfolio? ;)

I verified the domain with TXT record and tried to setup a CNAME record for a sub-domain which did not work: https://namepros.koauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu.nz

I temporarily tested on the main domain and it worked. The shown domain name on the lander is very small and difficult to read but it's an edge case:

Great tip 👍 I already wrote to the site 2 days ago but I haven't received a reply so far.

@Future Sensors That's what I wrote: Setting up the lander on a subdomain does not work.
