We need this one too guys :)

This guide will also help LLLL.com holders to understand more the value of their 4 letters .com based on how expensive the similar 3 letters .com are.

From:

http://3character.com/priceguide.html

Pricing Guide for 3-Letter (Composed Of Letters Only) Domains:

Current Observed Minimum Wholesale Price (regardless of letter combo) as of February 1, 2008:

3-Letter .com - $6700 (+ $300 since January 1, 2008 report)

But I consider their guide a bit old since they are not taking in consideration the emergenging countries that appreciate other letters and as we have run a poll here several times lately, the majority of people consider the letters U
and W to be Premium letters.

Let`s have a look at some recent LLL.com sales as reported from NameBio.com :

With lll.com names, the whole domainer "chips" thing doesn't really work...the value will vary because of a multitude of things, but mainly because the the domain length, the extension obviously and rarity of these names..plus other things like

Brandable?
Pronounceable?
Dictionary word?
Good letters (not just good chinese letters)
Acronyms
Age
etc

So there is no real floor price...a company or investor will pay the good money if they want those letters

Like cie.com for $51k...has vowels but still over $50k

The whole "chips" thing being applied to llll.com just cant be applied to lll.com domains..

Any serious Chinese investor is paying $65K-$70K+ for ANY LLL.com without vowels/v right now.

LLL.com's with vowels/V can vary, from $23K to whatever the buyer believes the domain is worth to them.

Cie is the acronym for Compagnie in french :)

Thanks @dotbay...thats exactly what I'm talking about...3 letters almost always means something in some other language, whether its a word, acronym, abbreviation, airport code, etc

I totally agree with you..i just note fact that currently sale price of vowels/v domains in range $23k and up, I thing ANY lll.com price must be in $100k floor price range no matter which letter, and later or soon it will be in such range.

How you define "the whole regular CHIP thing", just curious?

@djum

You only have to look at just about every thread that mentions LLLL.com price these days and the term is being used. I have also noticed a few variations of the term as well, depending on which domainer is referring to it

Some say it only refers to names without the a, e, i, o, u and other people include the "V' in there as well

Its only a new term and only really started being used this year on domain forums, I might start my own domain term as well :)

I was actually addressing different thing. If we start valuing the CHIPs, you will see that the CHIPs with meaning and good letters that can have meaningful acronyms attract higher price. They are not that much different in this department than non-CHIPs.

F.e. CHIP LLL starting with letter Z will attract higher price, same with LLL containing BJ and so on.
Talking about meaning there's popular Chinese crowdsourcing site ZBJ.com, you can compare it to Western Upwork.com. One of the recent sales on Namejet:
zbj.net 11,190 USD 2015-12-17 NameJet

LLL.net was sold for 11K - 3-4 times more than retail price for LLL.net chip right now.
So letters does matter even for CHIPs. Also acronym, ZBJ stands for Zhu Bajie, character from legendary Chinese novel Journey to the West, you can see picture of Piggy in top left corner when open the site.

No problem, I guess we are all entitled to our opinions, I just dont think it applies to LLL.com names. There is no solid pattern here and bad letters will sell for great prices and vice versa, because they have so many acronyms and meanings (because of their length)

I agree letters matter, but not the same as with the recent LLLL.com sales where vowels are not as valuable etc etc (CHIPS)
