The Google | Yahoo | MSN Watch Thread
-5/13/2007-
There have been some interesting sparks flying recently in the unfolding of Mobile Internet Revolution.
I'd like to summarize/graph what has happened suddenly by looking at the trend setters for this new, perceived "branding race".. and its leading options:
1.) Yahoo - Awareness for a new "m." movement has been raised, with their lead URL of m.yahoo.com (BTW, Yahoo Mobile Search Engine "One Search" represents .mobi results the most, by far)
2.) Google - Just in, Google has just removed the redirect of m.google.com (on my advanced PDA) today from going to m.google.com/m to stand-alone m.google.com. More importantly, there is now an option on the PDA to view the entire PC site with scrollbars by clicking on the "Classic" version at the bottom! (Typing in just google.com on my advanced PDA renders the same mobile site with the choices, BUT with the URL showing http://www.google.com)
3.) MSN - Perhaps one of the most intriguing approaches, try understanding MSN.com and what they are doing from different accessing devices:
a.) Low end internet phones (1 of 5 score on ready.mobi emulator yet decent content showing?)
b.) Advanced PDAs (Site with LONG vertical scrollbars NO horizontal scrollbars?! Looks nice, could this format evolve the future way PC site developers develop their sites to cater to the long tail mobile users?!)
c.) PC (again, could this format evolve the future way PC site developers develop their sites to cater to the long tail mobile users?!)
4.) DotMobi
Whose backing the backers?
Will they be paced to respond, immediately, big in the short term?
*******
What do you think of all/any of this? Tough equation to proof :tu:
I surrender
Kind Regards,
Yelo
