Hi

SEO = Search Engine Optimization

Let's use this thread to talk about this important new frontier for the mobile internet revolution.

Traditionally, backlinks has been the most important criterion to attain high rankings in the search engine listings..

Now we are embarking on a new, mobile search frontier hierarchy of rankings with the advent of a seperate mobile search (seperated from the PC sites)

Getting top billing (as high as you can go) can be essential for first mover growth in a medium that is fresh and accessible worldwide..

Let's get ahead of the game.

Three giants to topple:

1.) Yahoo (One Search)
yahoo.mobi or m.yahoo.com

2.) Google
google.com/pda and http://www.google.com/m?uipref=3? (new)

3.) MSN
m.live.com and http://beta.mobile.msn.com/pc/en-us/merch_search.aspx ? (new.. in development)

Let's discuss this more together, any insights?

Kind Regards,

Yelo

Excellent topic.
This is important stuff. I think we all need to develop .mobi sites and link them.
I started Top-10.mobi to encourage development and showcase other .mobi's

I will create sections in my other sites to link to other .mobi sites.

We need to discuss other techniques for SEO: use of keywords, site design, etc.

Yes, good stuff Yelo ... perhaps consolidate several of your current threads to one common "theme" (.MOBI or otherwise), IMHO.

Link exchanges, link directory, weightings and traffic, incoming links, Page Rank, and SEO ... all VERY COOL and important stuff! :yell: :music:
See you soon.

SEO for a mobi site is the same as SEO for any other site...

Right now, I'm afraid you're right. The problem as I see it is that the SE's hunger for gobs of content and keywords is counterintuitive to good mobile design, that being simplicity. Strategies like back links may help even the score to some degree but only testing can help assess.

Hmm..

HI!

I think because of the lack of mobile sites out there..

The weight of keywords in the mobile domain name are much more heavier with regards to attaining top ranking listings..

(This could affect our dot mobi drafting style as well)

For example, I am #1 worldwide for a certain keyword.mobi that I put up months ago (in Yahoo One Search) with no backlinks; but on the regular PC search engine, this would not have been possible of course..

But I see what you are thinking, the algorithem might be the same or very similar. But, the real life workings can be different. For example, can you list your dot mobi mobile site in a regular PC directory??? (BUT, you can't do that the other way around - list a full PC site in a mobile directory? ) Should we be submitting to regular site directories as well?!

Are lots of PR 0 Dot Mobi reciprocal links good for our fresh Dot Mobis?

All things too think about, but one thing is for sure - we can jump to the top much faster with much less effort, time, and cost in the new mobile search ranking game.

Any tips or ideas out there?

Kind Regards,

Yelo

This thread is important enough to be a sticky

I know this has not got too much attention, but I'd be interested in answering this question.

What specifically can I do to achieve high page ranks?
