Articles have been taken down by Network World.

"Verisign has admitted it “sponsors” an analyst who has written more than a dozen articles singing the praises of .com and questioning the value of new gTLDs over the last few years."

It's praises don't really need to be sung. It's like some sex, coffee, beer, massage company paying somebody to write positive stuff. It's Captain Obvious type stuff. You probably have more coming from the other end. We had people here wondering if one person posting about .top was working for the company until they admitted it. Some name.com employee writing positive stuff about new gtlds, throwing up graphs without numbers. People posting "news" items in the new gtld forum when they are advertising/press releases. Dumb connections SEO boost/new gtld when it's just because a .com did a redirect. People get thrown some swag, then literally wearing it for their pic, posting marketing in their posts. It would come as no shock to me if there were people from these registries/registrars posting here as normal domainers.

But I do agree with stuff like this, if you're getting paid, there are FTC guidelines to be aware of. That's for .com, new gtlds, anybody.
