Sure, you can give away your .org domains for free if you like.
You can also give away your .com domains for free to startups that say they have no money. They probably need the domain more than you do.
Non-profit and not-for-profit certainly doesn't mean that there's no money involved. Often, there's
a lot of money involved and directors are well rewarded
. Especially when large commercial vendors create an alliance together.
I'm not talking about obvious infringements of rights of those organizations either. Stay away from this (you know already, just saying). Just nice generic domains based on short, simple dictionary pre- and suffixes with .org added to the end.
