So, how are you feeling about .tv in a nutshell and has your sentiment changed?

Using a scale where:

SENTIMENT
0 = terrible
5 = neither positive or negative
10 = fantastic

and

MONEY
0 = lost every cent
5 = have broken even
10 = have made a stack of cash

1) how would you rate your experience with .tv until 19 March?
2) how are you feeling about .tv (post 19 March) going forward?
3) how has .tv treated you financially to date?

My ratings (started in 2005, approx 40 .tv's owned)

< 19 March 6
> 19 March 9
Financially 6

My 2c = always wanted to see renewals at standard fees. Never cared about the upfront costs. .TV is now at a crossroads. With premium (renewal) pricing gone I feel that the time (or time of reckoning) of .tv has come. 2 more years

I expect a little bit of a bounce with all the CHATTER and the new pricing / standard renewal structure ... but, overall, pretty much the same for this ccTLD vanity/niche extension; 0 - 5, depending on the domain name(s), IMHO.

Getting rid of the hefty annual renewals is a "net positive" ... lack of End user interest and key developments is still a major league issue, however. I also think it ought to somehow be reclassified / rebranded as a gTLD and it will be diluted with the advent of the highly brandable .WEB, .VID, and/or whatever else may be coming down the pike in this niche arena. :gl: :imho:

Good Luck,
Jeff B-)

My sentiment has changed from 100% negative to 100% positive. And what I have made cash wise is subjective to everyones bank balance. To me I made 6/10.

But if I get the names i have , I expect my profits to increase three fold if not more.

Nice thread DOTTVFAN - and good to see you back!!

Sentiment is still positive; have not sold a .TV domain yet but have noticed a pickup on the sales boards; several developments in process; much better placement at Yahoo than Google for .TV sites but some long-tail search traffic at Google for .TV sites

I have noticed lately a sharp increase the last couple weeks in the number of webmasters seeking links with my .TV websites (perhaps because I have launched several geos in recent months).

I have always maintained that it is a strong extension for a particular niche(do not have to tell you what that would be) and now with the grandiose marketing attempting to pull it out of the ashes, can arise as that Phoenix and, while not threatening any of the major extensions, can hold its own and become a serious player as well in a few more, smaller niches.

almost forgot---confidence was always high so nothing has changed for me.

If you must give it a number, throw a 7 up there just for now...and climbing pretty quickly.

Thanks, Oprah.

No if Oprah ever says on her .tv show someday,quote: "to find out more, go to Own.tv", than you will be an "enduser" explosion.

Thanks, Jim

That would indeed be good - the oprah effect - but we know she wont be saying anything about her new network till her contract finishes in 2011.

But all signs look good , as if she is buying ahead of time for her new show when it does begin. FIngers crossed.
