So I was checking out the availability of keywords for .Tech and I was left wondering what kind of fools they have doing the pricing over there. EVERY single decent keyword domains are being held by the registry. Or at ridiculous prices. They'll be filling for bankruptcy in the next 5 years. I don't think they get the value of getting domainers in the door and what renewals mean. Here's an example of the silliness:

That's the land rush price per year! And YES! of course it's available. Anyways, there are other GTLDs that are stronger and more versatile then .Tech and it's limitations. Happy hunting.

Thats a shame. I like the extension but that pricing is outrageous!

It is a shame. I have no problem paying premium in early stages as I've been doing with other gtlds. But .TECH is off the mark. Even if they do change their prices later I think buyers will still be limited having invested in smarter priced GTLDs.

Since there is already .technology they should chill a bit with pricing, JMO. :xf.rolleyes:

Although technology is long it's actually better than .tech again JMO. If I told someone to go to any domain .tech they may key in .tec. :xf.wink:

Hmm Radix, maybe we will see the same business model with .web, .shop and .music what a shame.

They are .web? What a shame...

Let me guess they are .now too??

Oh well like I've said before get in early as they're getting greedy one year later!

Yes. Bad news for new gTLD investors. Was really looking forward to .shop.

.tech is $12.5k day 1 (july 29th). $3k day 2. $1.2k day 3. $650 day 4. $175 day 5.

And on August 5th they'll be $19.99 (with $49.99 renewal).

I kind of like the tiered roll-out pricing.

Check back tomorrow and that domain may be cheaper.

We should boycott them.

@RU I have a decent portfolio of gTLDs but it was mostly last year and a few others throughout the year.

Everything has changed as they're now holding all good names and the others are overpriced beyond reach for any domain investor.

I'm not going to reg any more new gTLDs other than Donuts if this crap continues. Donuts isn't perfect but I get some good regs if I dig deep.

No need to boycott as their business model will fail on it's own IMO.

PS - I do hate they have .web and I think .now which were two I was ready to roll with.

I boycott every registry who reserve all decent domains, making bulk searches on a few keywords on new strings reveal their business model pretty fast. No point spending hours and hours to get a twoword.whatever on every release when some allow me to get a good word.word easy.
