Well as we conclude the first full calendar year of the .TV subforum the thread about a domain extension that sucked and was too expensive became the FIrst EXT specific SUB FORUM on what I think is the best DOMAIN FORUM on the net. I would like to thank those who have made this place THEE place on the net to DISCUSS the .tv extension and all things TV. People can argue the best hosting forum or overall domain forum or whatever else. THere is no arguement THIS IS THEE PLACE #1 That is not arrogance that is just a fact as true as the Sun is Hot.

THis place is a success because of the founding members of what I am calling "DOT TV NATION" and they are BADGER (the first person I ever discussed .tv with when I joined here in 04 everyone elses opinion on .tv was it sucked. I was glad they thought it sucked stay out go reg a five word three hyphen .com . Badger was the first one who I spoke to who owned and understood .tv. The list continues with .mike, Argos we had DVD and LCD in the Afternic SHOWCASE for awhile together congrats on the sale finally ARGOS. JOHNTV the first geotv guy who many have emulated, AMCY.org who I have not seen in awhile posting here, lastly the two guys that have become good friends who I have spent much more time on thephone with at weird hours WESTBLOCK and ELEQUA
THis subforum was started because of them because I thought that there was enough of a group to get our own sub forum. Subforums work I think .mobi and .us are good too you notice you don't see SPAM here, offtopic posts, attacking posts DELETED right away the Subforum has its own rules it runs smoother IMO.

DOT TV NATION has grown with new, valuable, constantly contributing members that came into the fold once the subforum got going Rogue Writer who is a trmenedous available domain asset, Antonis12, AAAmaretto, SKG,WINE GUY, Fleaking who is rookie of the year with the amount of sales in one year with no previous interest in the extension before. DOTTVFAN congrats on the WEDDING GRANT, SILICON FINANCE, Gamehouse, Searchingtv and yes even you Millers hahaha

For those who have dropped in from time to time thank you for the input and hope you have learned something or got something outof spending time here.

Moving forward the time is for development for those with 15 or more .tv domains, for those just starting our check out some of the geo threads and channel threads . They are not for everyone but at least have a built in audience and with lots of development options.

2006 with a week left produced 27 reported .tv sales not a lot for sure. So you can see owning a bunch with hopes of turnover quickly is not really the best play IMO take your best domains leverage them, find partners promote them you can make more than the top sale this year from development.

I believe Demand Media will get .tv more mainstream channelme.tv will appeal to younger USER GENERATED CONTENT web surfers. We need to see what the premium pricing structure will be and formulate strategies there.
Demand Media will provide free tools to help build a channel that is good, Brightcove is making more features available also good. IF you do not know about Brightcove go there and learn this is not an endorsement but at least get to know them.

Lastly remember it does not matter what other domainers think of .tv absolute 0 you got your domains you have more knowledge on the ext than anyone anywhere. Build your channels, cross promote with other like minded individuals and do it. You will have more tools in 07 than you could ever imagine. and the tag line for DOT TV NATION "If you develop it they will watch "

We will start holding a weekly .tv chat in the new year

As a Christmas present the 25th post #25 to this thread will receive a free .tv domain at ENOM so you need an account at ENOM.tv Only rules are poster 25 must be different from poster 24 . GOOD LUCK THanks for being here in 06 Lord Willing 07 will be better.

THANK YOU RJ and DB for buying into the SUB forum idea and being great owners

I would like to echo your thoughts, i have learnt a lot in the past 12 months from viewing the .tv thread, it is good for guys like me who had little or no knowledge of .tv ext to read and learn about all your experiences and advice.

I would recommend anyone interested in .tv should read this board regulary and learn from the extensive network of people in the industry.
I am even beginning to offer some advice myself now, although how accurate that advice is , is another matter

I am very excited about .tv for 2007 ,hopefully enom will come good and deliver .tv to the masses.
Once again, thanks to everyone for all your advice over the past 12 months,
this is a great community who will go that extra mile to help one another when they need it, which i think is typified by the recent work Equity has done with the pets.tv situation.
Thanks

TY Stone glad you have gotten value for your time spent on the forum and IMO you have a great domain in DARTS.tv if done right you make more per year than the top sale this year at $10,015

Equity,

That was a good summary.

Great foresight to start this subforum and thank you for all the time you have put into it.

I did not start seriously regging domains until Sept 2005 and back then boy was I regging silly stuff. I stumbled across .tv because I kept seeing it available for great keywords when every other extension was gone and I started regging them, but I was still relatively clueless -- and in the outside world, the prevailing opinion was that .tv was useless!

Somewhere about Nov/Dec last year I stumbled upon this sub-group and from then on I learned a ton from the other folks in this board.

Assuming Demand Media does not do anything thoughtless, I am pretty sure that 2007 will be a break-out year for .tv and we will see:

a) a lot more public attention to the extension
b) major corporate initiatives
c) many more resales
d) more development

I agree that development is important, but I also think that for video-oriented sites, high quality development will matter more than for text oriented sites. If you do not have the resources yourself to make a great site, I would consider looking to the firms in your domain's industry to see if they can partner with you to provide content or expertise. We are all helped by making .tv a place with high quality websites. Also, I would imagine that the frenzy will peak in 2008, so develop in 2007 to be able to monetize in 2008.

I hope within the next few months to start showing a lot more progress on my portfolio and my strategy for development.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Absolutely spot-on!
"If you develop it they will watch "

Exactly the reason why I bought industrynews.tv
and hoping that the upcoming tools will help me to deveop this domain in early 2007

Only thing I'm having difficulty deciding on is which format to create the various channels:

industrynews.tv/[industryname]
or subdomains
[industryname].industrynews.tv

Thanks to veryone that participates here, I am hooked on NP forums more than any other now. :kickass:

Best wishes to all,

- Vince

Thank you for the address

Hi everyone,

I am always surprised at the original ideas that Equity comes up with, all the time. Starting from idea for .TV sub forum to this state of the forum address, every one of them is a class idea, imo.

"If you develop it they will watch"

What a punch line that reflects reality. 2006 has seen a big surge in the number of registrations of .TV names. Both high quality and keyword names. A change over at the right time. Confidence is high in general in .TV names.

While there are many many tools available for development along with copyright free content, so far there are no tools that can be set up and used right away. I was finding a nice tool/script/code/feature almost every day. Now, Demand Media would make that much easier with their new tools to be released out soon. Probably they will make things as "Install and Go" like instant websites.

I have always been grateful that I am part of Namepros and .TV forum importantly. I would like to take this occasion to thank everyone.

I started my journey almost a year ago in .TV forum. Everytime I logged in, I learned new things, ideas, suggestions and available names

There are many members who are like the main pillars of this .TV community. All of them are my inspiration. Equtity's list names all the most important names, whom I am indebted to, for their knowledge, support and enthusiasm.

I personally know couple of people who are embarking into development in 07 and I am working on that too.

You like it or not, .TV will come out as most profitable extension to hold, develop or to play with, in 2007. Other main extensions will loose traction to .TV just as regular Television channels are loosing visitors to online entertainment. It is happening and its bound to happen.

2007 will start with a blast, with new tools from Demand Media, Bud.tv advertisement in Super bowl and more.

The other day I was at friends place and saw an advertisement for an Indian channel with an extension that grabbed people's attention. Guess what that extension is? Yes, you are right, it was .TV.

I will stop here expressing my thanks to one and all. I am sure we will look back at this thread in 2007 around this time and say, oh what a great change, so many things evolved and grabbed public attention for .TV. I just can not wait to see that and be part of it.

Finally a special thanks to Equity for helping members in need.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to Everyone.

This is so true. Equity78 is the driving force behind the .TV forum. It would have never got started, much less grown into the success it has become, without his work and dedication.

Thank you EQ78. Merry Christmas. :santa:

Merry Xmas Guys

To all of you,

This forum has been great!!

I have made some good friends here and business partners through this forum.

I can't seem to get enough of .TV and this forum is a good place to meet with like minded individuals.

I have never invested in any domains before 06 and have now built some deep exposure in the .TV EXT.

I will reiterate that 2007 will be a year devoted to development and cannot see myself regging for quite some time to come.

So gone will be that tingly feeling I get from hitting the "pay once again" button for this reg, that reg, day in day out - I will miss it to be sure, but the development will be my compass from hereon in.

I have formed strategic alliances both in domain speculation and development.

Of course where else but NAMEPROS to post a thread for a LOGO competition....the talent here is overwhelming in that regard. So that will be coming soon.

I have made use of the advice of SKG on both a professional ad personal level on a sometimes daily basis!!

I am also engaged to some extent in a developent project that is in its early stages, involves some very major industry talent and which I really do believe will revolutionise .TV and the internet!!

I also want to add that I wear my heart on my sleeves and that is reflected in the way I post and what I post and how I post. Sometimes, some of my posts could do with a little more thought before posting,, and I will strive to improve in that aspect in 2007!!!

Regards

Millers

31st December 2005 was the day that I registered my first .com domain as an investment. I came across the .TV forum on 1st January 2006, (in exactly one day I realised .tv is the future of domaining, thanx to equity) a new year brought a new investment opportunity.

I dint look back, every dollar I could save went into buying .tv's. Over this one year I have bought more than 150 .tv domains.

My resolution for 2007 is that I should develop at least two good names.

I would like to thank

SKG
JohnTV
Gamehouse
Antonis12
Millers
Equity78
dottvfan
aaamaretto

for their advice and constant feedback. Thanks for one and all who were a part of this wonderful community.

Merry Christmas !! Happy Newyear !!

.TV forum has been my home for the last 1 year. I love this place.

Also I like to thank everyone here and especially Raymond as without this .tv forum I would not have the guts to go through with .tv the way I did.

As a very late Christmas gift I donate NP$2,500 to 'Ray' as I would not be where I am now in .tv land without this forum :)

BTW I am impressed by some new members contributing and owning some awesome names. For example, lv.tv will be a huge winner, but there are also many other examples I wish I could have my hands on earlier :)

I could have made that 28 reported .tv sales with FantasySports.TV sold for $5K but I was to lazy to send in the paperwork to DN Journal.

equity- Thanks for the sub forum, you've done an excellent job at building interest, and giving us an opportunity to view perspectives about this extension that I had not been exposed to before.

My first registrations occurred in November of last year for this extension, and looking back at them, I am simply salivating at the portfolio that I have. So many opportunities that I would never have involved myself with without the input of this place.

2007 will be the year of development for me, I am working on 3 right now, with a goal of having them view worthy in the first quarter.

Things have been tight with me financially this year, some truly tough times, but I have to tell you, every time I work on my .tv sites, and every time I visit this sub forum, I can't help but get excited and optimistic about the future.

A LOT of .tvers are going to have a good 2007, no doubt in my mind.
