I think you are pricing the domain after a business has been built on it. That's like asking for a business loan based on projections, not income.

I’d value it 8 figures, I'm sure domains will sell for mid-7 figures privately nowhere near same tier as Sports dot com, but $6 million is still a hell of a lot of money.

It’s a good deal for the buyer and as the seller agreed to it, it must be a good deal for them too so you just have to say ‘well done’.

I agree it is one of the top domains but nothing will be sold for 8 figures as domainers wish !!

Compare $6 million to the annual operating costs of all NFL, NBA, MLB franchises combined. I guess you could also add in hockey, soccer, horse racing, auto racing, track and field, gymnastics, swimming, etc. How about broadcast rights for major sporting events like the Super Bowl, NBA Championships, Olympics, et c?

Everyone thinks it’s simple to sell domains for millions of dollars. It doesn’t matter how generic and premium your domain is. To sell a domain for millions takes patience and a lot of negotiation.

no-one is saying domain selling in 7 figures is easy... Just saying that for Sports.com specifically it's non-sense. With the pool of potential buyers for such a top killer keyword that have financial gain from owning it , it seems extremely low. It's not a trophy name.

for prob the best name for a half-trillion dollar industry.. 6 million is nothing.. just look at how much top sports companies sell a quarter in merchandise...and most domain sales are under NDA.. i highly doubt 6 million is a top 20 sales in the real world in terms of domains.

1 condo in Florida on the beach, versus best name for worldwide access to sell anything sports to being the #1 sports site.. what's better than sports.com for that industry.

The argument of what the seller and buyer agreed upon is what it's worth is so flawed.. when you don't have the right buyer willing to pay up.. then you just got a bad deal. that doesn't mean that's the value of the domain.

Public example. voice.com sold for 30 million usd... sports.com is worth at least the same if not quite a bit more.

It doesn’t matter how big the industry is it doesn’t mean a company is just going to hand you cash.

You just own a domain. Look at the thousands of companies without premium domain names. You have blinders on if you think just because you own a domain you can control a business. It doesn’t work that way. You also can’t predict the future of domains.

It’s easy to talk about how someone else should spend their money when it’s not your money. Let’s agree to disagree and move on. There will be more sales and you will always say they’re too low. You need to question yourself though and ask are they really? If you owned the domain and you don’t sell for 6 million. When do you sell for more? People don’t realize what you can do with 6 million $ and 6 million today is not 6 million tomorrow. These are not liquid assets.
