.tv Spanish .TV domain auction…

Owners of high quality Spanish .TV domains, I would like to suggest we join forces and offer an online auctioneer a solid inventory list of .TV domains to sell. Ergo, please pm me the domains you are willing to sell and your minimum price point. Please be as reasonable as possible, we want to stimulate interest. Suggestions and comments that help to improve this endeavor are welcome.

In addition, if anyone is aware of a Spanish domain conference, in the EU or South America, which would be a good venue to market our Spanish .TV domains please let us all know. Thank you.

España vs Espana was discussed at length in this forum recently.

This is PURELY MY OPINION and there are others who will disagree STRONGLY that IDN is a tough sell in .TV.

Basically, I don't see the .TV registry ever whitelisting any special characters which means that while we have anti-phishing browsers they will still show as xn--whatever. Whilst this is the case the IDN will have issues - that said, eventually I think access will be via more than browsers (such as Apps) and this becomes less of an issue - but then so does the domain as a whole but this is years away for large sites.

I find the whole IDN issue bizarre. .CO just launched/ing for COLOMBIA which last time I checked was Spanish speaking is NOT IDN?! This means that the natural spelling of some of the biggest cities in the World are unavailable in their own ccTLD?!

i recently won アニメ.tv (anime) in a expired auction only to have the owner renew and sell for $250 at a forum i visit, idn's are noticed and do work ...even in .dot tv

The whole idn situation bizarre ? other than the example you mention there is very much a industry set to grow with idns even in .tv

I like the idea of a Spanish language auction as the market seems to be quite exciting at the moment.

I have very little in my portfolio to offer but could add the names:

I have some of the best spanish .tv names, many which I bought in 2000. However, I think it's better we wait until summer ends, IMO. I am all for it but summer time is slow and if we wait until September it will be much better.

I have a large Spanish portfolio but as others have mentioned, if you only have a small group of domainers bidding at the auction, the results are not likely to be favorable for sellers. And having seen some .TV auctions turn in so-so results I'm not interested in putting my names out there without adequate reserves. Regardless, I would be interested in any developments regarding Spanish domain auctions.

Yes. Can you explain to me how there is going to be resolution of the issue with respect to whitelisting national characters by the registry?

.TV wants to be global so it needs to include every allowable language.

Until there is a universal "browser" response I fail to see how this will really take off and I firmly believe that the notion of a universal "browser" will start taking things in a fundamentally new direction anyway.

Jim good point, but, we should start build a list now for the fall. We could form a private social group on namepros where we would build the list of domains and price points that would be submitted. I would also like to suggest that if 5 participants feel a domain has a price point that is too high, that name will be removed from the list if the owner is not willing to lower the reserve price. Also, we would need some basic guidelines for submission. At this point I would ask for others to participate and help with guidelines. If you want to be a part of the private social group please pm me. Any thoughts??

There are many many language scripts they have been applied for to icann and already i think at least five have been approved , you only have to go to the idn section at namepros to keep up on all that stuff , i happily have at least ten japanese idns and there are forums dedicated tho these names with lots of sales as people prepare themselves for the opening up of the internet to all languages. As for browsing of course oneday they will be totally global .......it's all good
