Hello I just receive a email from a website I wont say the name saying that I have to pay $200.00 for spamming on there site, and if I dont pay there going to take legal actions. Can you pay a fine for spamming on someone site? Its not a notable site.

To be honest it looks like blackmail. A site cannot fine you for spamming it is a legal matter.

If they are adament you spammed them then they should report it to the proper authorities or of course your ISP (which they could find easily looking in their logs)

Actually if you agreed to their TOS and it states that you will agree to pay them for advertising (spamming) then yeah...you are liable for that. You spam...you pay. I have a couple sites with this wording in my TOS. I ask $500 though per instance. I also want $500 for each and every email you send to me with advertising in it. :)

And this IS LEGAL since you agreed to the TOS when you signed up.

In all honesty if you tried to fight that in a court of law you would most likely lose. Just because something is in the tos does not mean it is sacrosanct. A court could deem it excessive and unfair.

There's a lesson here: Don't spam.

Learn from your mistakes.

They can, by seeing what ip address was used to submit the site, and also by doing a whois of the site that was spammed.

BUT because they didnt report you, and instead tried to blackmail you, they have in fact broken the law, let them know that and Im sure they will stop bothering you.

It is a form of blackmail. Surely if you didn't interfere with the overall performence of the site, $200 wouldn't be justifiable. Ignore it -- They won't take you to court. They'd pay more than $200 for the lawyers and such, anyway.

Learn from your mistake -- don't be another @$$hole like a million others. Get your traffic the organic way. Don't spam. :)
