The fact that the following domains, albeit with high renewals, are still available to register after all this time just shows how much of a failure this tld has been, right?

Poker.xyz
Casino.xyz
77.xyz
88888.xyz
Diamonds.xyz

RIP to .xyz.

not necessarily. doesn't the registries eventually put such domains they have secured for themselves at auction to free up cash? or give themselves bonuses?

There are plenty of valuable .com names that sit unused. Names that were regged back in 1997 and still 20 years later have not been sold.

I think one thing it definitely proves is that the reg and renewal fees are just way to high for those domains.
Otherwise they would of been bought up.

I dont like many of the ngtld, but I always liked .xyz. Personal taste.

Its an extension for something brandable. Those names listed just dont belong on a .xyz. I wouldnt develop any of those business names on a .xyz. It looks unprofessional in a sense. Not balanced.

I only own a few because the ones I want are overpriced lol...but...

If .xyz is RIP. Than alot will follow suit. Because its got more going for itself than the majority. Its not a gimmick extension like most, disregarding business practices

Those renewal prices are just too high for a "domainer".

I could see a name like Poker.xyz potentially making sense to an end-user though.

We are selling Photo.xyz right now which has a renewal of only $200, which just about makes sense for a domain investor to hold I think, so there are some exceptions.

More than $250 is probably not worth the hold IMO.

If .xyz became a profitable company through their marketing efforts I would say that their extension is a success. By the looks of it I think they'll have enough money to stay in business and work for additional registrations.

The experienced NP members were right about it not being a get-rich-quick-scheme so the payoff isn't immediate but I think it is good for those of us that purchased single keyword domains in the field of our interest.

Web development is easy with turnkey solutions like Wordpress so it's possible to create a profitable website if someone has the time, experience and funds.

if this is true for .xyz, then it should be true for any extension.

but the issue with whatever tld/gltd or cctld you choose, may show in the trust level your market has with that extension.

as some keywords may not "fit right" with an extension, in the minds of potential users.

imo...

Maybe not for any extension but for many extensions.

I also agree with the domain needing to "fit" the extension.

They say a fool and their money are soon parted. I have made many foolish purchases also. Then again some people win the lottery also with a ticket purchase. Good luck with that extension but I would not bank on it too much. Many names will have trade mark issues also. Personally I think it was dumb to bring in so many new extensions. Money grab I think. Like others have said, many good domains to register in .com and others yet. Goggle voice search even prefers longer phrases now.

xyz was a fail before they even approved it's release, along with the vast majority of GtldS IMO, It is a cash cow for registers to be able to offer so many extensions, IMO, Most all GtldS were released with the sole intention of domainers registering them up, GtldS are the same as fools Gold IMO.

For some people GTLDs make sense.

I used to use ChrisScottRice.com for my personal blog but I was able to shorten it to ChrisRice.xyz, a domain that would have been impossible to purchase in .com.

ZacLucas.com was already taken but I bought up ZacLucas.xyz and .net for my son.

XYZ made it possible for me to register a host of good names under the same extension. This makes XYZ part of my personal brand much like .com is used for commercial branding.

In addition to that, I purchased BookofLife.xyz for regfee, a domain that would probably sell for a moderate price in .com. The benefits I received from being able to register .xyz domains early has already helped me, and I might not be the only one.
