So I get an email from Enom yesterday saying:

Dear Premium .tv Portfolio Owner,

Effective immediately, all available Premium .tv names have been re-launched* with several
exciting changes:

A drastically reduced price on new Premium .tv registrations
For new Premium .tv names registered on or after March 19th, 2010, the renewal price will be the same as standard, non-premium .tv domains.
These names will not last long. Grab your names today.

So I go to Dynadot and spend a long time finding names for "standard" renewal price! DUH.

[NAMES REMOVED]

Then I go to sleep thinking I've done my best. Busy day, Huh?

Only to find today tons of messages in my account saying e.g. "Unfortunately, we have deleted the domain *****.tv from your account. This is because *****.tv is a Premium .TV Domain. The actual registration price for *****.tv is $390.00 per year. The domain ****.tv has been deleted as well. The Premium .TV Domain price for ****.tv is $300.00."

WHAT THE HELL!

What happened to "standard" renewal fees??? Is this some kind of a sick joke?

Oh and to top it off Dynadot says "our payment for the domains have been credited to your account balance."

Bloody great! A couple of Ks just spent is now locked in my friggin Dynadot account???? No names at all to show? Just a couple of Ks down the drain unless I start regging useless stuff!

This is bloody awful. :'(

Not cool and btw, they're still scamming money today. They list reg fee as $20 then when you buy it they say, oh sorry it's really high $xxx. By then they have already got your money!

I've still got a few names in my account but seems like they are all gonna end up going.

Well good.
I hope you get to keep those few.

Your list was a lot bigger than mine, but the same thing happened to me last night
also @ DynaDot.

I really like how they take the money first...then they tell ya,
Whoops, We F-ed up...but now you get a nice credit w/us!

Good Luck.

In all honesty there should be a lawsuit over this. Where else can a company keep your money after they fail to deliver the purchased items? At the very least they should have to refund the money in full to those who's orders were not fulfilled! I'm not talking about a credit either.

I hear ya.
It definitely seems very wrong, unethical, immoral, etc.
But I bet if you took the day and a half to read their Terms Of Service,
we probably agreed to all of that upon Registrarion @ Dynadot.???

these look like LandRush domains, did the really write premium fee per year or one time and then normal reg fee?
this doesnt much original announcement for no more premium fees after March 19

Yep, it's a big screw up.

Dynadot said:
I believe the order was paid using account credit, so we just issued the account credit back. However, we typically issue account credit for all orders.

What is your refund policy?
What is your refund policy?

This sucks.

Its interesting to see with GoDaddy that all cctlds have their own TOS that you can click on and it takes you to the TOS.

With .TV - it goes to a dead page. Hmmmmmm

Dynadot really did you wrong...
LandRush names purchased at Name.com are treaded better...
we are given the option to pay the difference and then drop the rest for a refund.
I'd rather be in that position than to have the registrar drop it for me.

How the hell do they know whether or not I would've paid the LandRush sales price?
Keep in mind, the landrush sales price via enom was substantially lower than the regular Premium prices.

Has this happened to most people at Dynadot?

1.) I called this is a sick April 1st potential ... before it occurred. :yell:

2.) I stated this has POTENTIAL (in some form, or other) legal ("class action") action written all over it ... before it came to fruition.

3.) Some openly criticized me for above humble opinions, as well.

I'm truly sorry for those that now feel "cheated", IMHO.
Good Luck,
Jeff B-)

I feel bad for vJRB and ALL who have been mistreated.

Let's face it. A registrar like Dynadot may just not have been the type of company that was able to handle this type of phenomenal onslaught. It's appears evident that they can not keep up with the big dogs of registrars.

Their total lack of concern for the customer appears to prove this in abundance. By not even providing an option for their loyal customers, they have shown what sometimes causes a company's reputation to fall by the wayside.

I do not blame them for being too small to handle the situation. I do fault them, however, at the apparent utter lack of customer support. Seems their bottom line does not have room to provide decent customer relations.

Thanks for the info, I have never used their service and it appears that I may never want to, regardless of the "savings".

Best of luck to all concerned regarding this most unfortunate situation.

Very well said.

Thats why I was happy to pay $39.99 at GD for each reg. They have the infrastructure, the telephone support 24/7 and overall are a safe bet. It may yet prove to be the best move I made with GD. Time will tell.

Jeff this has nothing to do with the extension, it has to do with Dynadot and their lousy policy. So its nothing with this April 1st nonsense or anything like that. Dynadot has a bad policy.

Secondly can we be honest here, people know that .tv have upfront premiums. The new policy by Verisign was to eliminate premium RENEWALS So people took their chances but as people in chat last night, we knew names showing at NAME.com for reg fee was a glitch and the names could be taken back. NAME.com got charged a premium fee, they had a problem on their technology.

I regged Fashions.tv for $23 I knew it was offered at DYNADOT for $390. I expected them to take the name back. They sent an email today offering me the name for a premium or a refund. Perfectly fair. They are not scum or should have honored the $23. By this rationale if you see a man walking out of the store drop a wallet pick it up and see $500 in there, then his wife walks out of the store after you and says that's my husbands wallet I watched him drop it, should you feel upset you did not get to keep the $500 that was never yours in the first place ?

These were technical glitches at Dynadot and Name.com sorry you can't blame Verisign IMO.

I completely agree with you. It was like taking chances while registering the names at Dynadot or Name .com. Well, if it did not work then people have to move on without blaming registrars or cribbing about the loss.

I in no way agree with Dynadot, disgraceful to drop the name, and not give you the option and a full refund not a credit.

Name.com did it the right way. We all make mistakes. They sent me an email we had a glitch. We paid premium fee by the registry we cannot give you the name for $23. We will come back with a premium offer.

They just emailed offering $367.25 that's cheaper than $410 at Enom.tv last night and $390 at Dynadot. They gave til tomorrow at 12 for decision on keeping the name and paying the premium pricing.

Time will indeed tell. But you are right about choosing a solid company with 24/7 support :talk: over an iffy one.

best of luck, Mills.

Why the f**k does everything have to be a drama when it comes to .tv, anyway? :|

You are right about Dynadot not informing before dropping the name. They should had done this. But for me it was like taking my chance while registering the premium priced names at Dynadot. I know I lost the names but you win some ,you lose some.

Aside from that credit issue which they screwed me on also...

Even MORE upsetting is they didn't even give you the chance to decide whether or not you wanted to keep the name for whatever the actual price was.
They just threw it back out there for anyone to reg.
Not Cool!

What if you were able to pick up your name.tv, or something else you have always wanted,
then it's a no-brainer, you would probably pay that one time fee.

I sure hope that doesn't happen to any Goldrush reg's,
at least I haven't heard of that happening to anyone yet...
