Someone initiated a domain transfer w/o my consent?

I received this email from chillydomains (Austria based hosting company?)

I am perplexed because I have no idea who this Mohamed guy is? Is this a scam or what? Do you think I need to do anything to make sure that I don't lose my domain name?

For the record, all my domains are locked.

TIA for your comments.

Dear Customer,

chillydomains [Under Registrar: Public Domain Registry] has received a request from MOHAMED ABO ELSAAD [[email protected]] on Friday, Nov 17, 2006 for Public Domain Registry to become the new registrar of record, for xxxxxxxxxxxx.com.

You have received this message because you are listed as the Registered Name Holder or Administrative contact for this domain name in the WHOIS database.

* Once a transfer takes place, you will not be able to transfer to another registrar for 60 days, apart from a transfer back to the original registrar, in cases where both registrars so agree or where a decision in the dispute resolution process so directs.

Contact support to cancel the transfer ASAP!

PS : remove "Approve Transfer Link" and "Cancel Transfer Link" before someone click it ;)

Contact ResellerClub, ChillyDomains and Hanival to get them to investigate and possibly take sanctions.

Do NOT click on the links sent in the email. It could be a scam. Contact your domain register first. Find out if someone is trying to iniatiate a domain transfer. If so tell you register do not approve it. In the case that someone is trying to transfer it, contact the register trying to transfer it. Tell them to cancel it and do not allow it.

It sounds like a scam, unless the epp code was correct the registrar would not have sent the notice to approve the transfer would they?

I called chillydomain's skype number and was told that mohammed did submit a transfer request.

The gentleman I spoke with said he will cancel the request and investigate it, but judging by his tone of voice, I am not holding my breath.

As other people have said many times, make sure to lock your domains!

cheers,

Yep, a case FOR Icanns Authorisation Codes needed for .coms and .nets...

Also, you can have a registry lock and at places like eNom have a domain lock with its own password as well!

Mind you, it could be innocent. I, myself, made a slight typo when trying to pull a name from godaddy to enom and ended up trying to trasnfer a name into my account that was somebody elses. It was very embarrassing! _\|/_

I have had two different domains that this happened to last year. It stated that If I didn't ok this transfer within so many days, the transfer would not take place. I did not click on any links because I didn't trust the Email. I just did not reply and my domain was not transfered.
