As long as it's locked, I think you're ok, but you may need to actively deny the xfer.

Well - if you really want to know - they tell you right there:

[[If you have any questions about this process, please contact [email protected]. ]]

Ask who initiated the transfer.

ICANN transfer rules

Hey, wait a minute. Their e-mail is telling you to ignore the email to stop the transfer. ICANN's new rules require the automatic transfer of the domain after five days if the owner ignores the transfer request. Sounds phishy to me.

I've been consolidating some of my domains and I think some registrars have not gotten around to editing their emails and software.

Actively DENY any transfer you didn't initiate regardless of locks or auth codes.

It doesn't necessarily mean it's being hijacked, but could very well be. Often people misspell or enter a wrong TLD on a transfer of a domain they own. in error. I know I've accidentally done it a time or two.

scary, i would email them and see who initiated the xfer, make sure you activly DENY the xfer, but still find out who did this, see if it was an accident or if they were trying to steal it... I hope this doesnt happent to me, that new ICANN rule is stupid....

With the new ICANN policy; NOT doing anything could very well cost you your domain.

I am sure you can dispute it once it is out of your grasp but still; someone must have been real high on something when they decided to allow transfers UNLESS disputed or if your domains are locked.

I never locked any of my domains - they couldn't possibly be transfered out without me agreeing to it - well, since ICANN decided to change their policy, I have now locked all my domains in 5-6 different registrars.

I'd cancel out of it - making sure my domains were locked and then I'd contact them and asking them to explain themselves. Most likely (hopefully) it is a mistake on their part. Good thing you noticed it, let us know what happend.

I e-mailed them and I'm waiting for a reply.

edit: My domain is still locked too.

then I wouldn't worry about it - if it's locked it needs to be unlocked before you can transfer out.

Sounds more like spam... like all them russian emails I keep getting that signs up for my blog newsletter and then bounce out... can someone explain what thats all about?

You didn't mention the domain, but if it's other than .com or .net you have the additional protection of the EPP auth code that they must enter correctly.

BTW, I would almost bet that when ICANN agrees to a new .net registry agreement next year for verisign or a new operator, that it also includes auth code protection. That would only leave .com and few ccTLD's without them.
