Buyer started out with $500 on Atom
I countered 3k
He said "Why don’t you come lower? That domain isn’t worth what you’re asking"
He offered 1.5k
I countered 1.8k
He says 1.5k is his final offer.

There's an EMD at bitcoin-fountain in king. idk what to do lol.

Fyi, Bitcoin faucets used to be / are a thing. Fountain is akin to faucets, which is why i got the domain in 2018

Is the buyer right or am i missing out on xx,xxx?

greed is bad. you got some profit, be happy and sell it now.

A lot of greedy domainers held on to premium NFT domains and regretted it now.

I sold a 3 letter cctld a couple of years ago for only mid xxx which now redirects to their 3L.com (AI).

I made a profit...did leave a lot of money on the table though, no doubt.

You win some you loose some. End of the day, if you get what you're looking for and it's enough to run a healthy business, no harm in underselling sometimes.

Bitcoin Faucet is about to be relaunched. Maybe that's why the sudden interest. That faucet was one important reason for many people to know and try about bitcoin at that time. Everytime the faucet runs out of bitcoins i remember the creator of the faucet asking the very early bitcoin miners who had tens of thousand of bitcoins to donate to the faucet so that many people can try it & he did receive thousands and gave back to the people.
Here is one of the new articles about the relaunch i found

Free Bitcoin Faucet From 2010 Is All Set for a Comeback

i cant add the link but you can google it to find about it. hope it helps.
Wish you sale!
yeah... the entire problem is... you can't do that anymore lmao
Bitcoin is literally worth $103k now. Back then, it was like 100k bitcoins = $1k.

So faucets themselves are nonsensical as you'd be getting very small fractions of btc.

Not trying to sound like a speculator, but it sounds more like SatoshiFaucet would be more appropriate

I think OP's domain does not have the hyphen (dash) in it, they were intentionally changing the name on their post for precaution.

The non-hyphenated version is right now, according to ICANN Lookup, pending transfer, and pointing to Atom NS, so I guess OP has agreed to a sale.

If I'm right, then congrats, @Jv1999 ! If I am not, thank you anyway for this thread, I found it helpful for my learning. Good luck!

Actually, i was trasferring it to spaceship to renew
, but yes, i accepted the buyer's offer before everyone replied as i got cold feet.

I wish i had listened to RJ though, a little.

Hey everyone, I accepted their offer of $1500.

I'm still not convinced Bitcoin Faucets are a thing still, even though one is making a comeback.

I accepted the offer before you all replied. I wish I had declined and let him get to 1.8k, but I've had this scenario play out and they just leave... so yeah

I think that this was the best thing. All selling comes down to the right customer coming along, and domains are so niche that we may never get the right customer come along. You did well to get $1.5. You may never have gotten an offer on it again and regret turning down the money instead. Be grateful

I like it, but please save us all from clicking on the link (as I personally am often suspicious of links with no text explaining them)

To save everyone else clicking:

“Marry, and you will regret it; don’t marry, you will also regret it; marry or don’t marry, you will regret it either way. Laugh at the world’s foolishness, you will regret it; weep over it, you will regret that too; laugh at the world’s foolishness or weep over it, you will regret both. Believe a woman, you will regret it; believe her not, you will also regret it… Hang yourself, you will regret it; do not hang yourself, and you will regret that too; hang yourself or don’t hang yourself, you’ll regret it either way; whether you hang yourself or do not hang yourself, you will regret both. This, gentlemen, is the essence of all philosophy.”

Honestly, this guy probably would’ve paid the $1,800... but hey, when you're in domaining and strapped for cash, sometimes the fear of losing the sale wins. Let’s be real though — if the buyer was stuck at $800, you definitely would’ve let it go for less. So, good job squeezing that deal! Now go out and snag a better name for $300 and flip the script — rinse, repeat, profit.

No, I wouldn't have let it go for $800, lmao. The sweetspot for brandables before the pandemic was $2,500 - $2,999.

That's when you don't know what it is, but it sounds good.

If he was stuck at $800.... He can definitely just leave.

I would not have jumped straight from $3000 down to $1800 as that kind of paints you in a corner and you've lost any advantage you had.

A good strategy is just stating that $3K (or whatever your price is) is the buy price right now, be patient and see what happens - you'd be surprised how many people just hit the Buy button.

I agree with you. With over 5,500 domains, I get 3–10 inquiries a day, and my gut says this buyer probably would’ve paid the asking price—or at least something north of $2K.

I tried to keep things constructive in my first comment, but honestly, this came off a bit like an amateur move on JV’s part. That said, he can likely find a solid replacement domain for less, so it’s not a total loss.

To be fair, I didn’t dig too deep into the article before commenting, so I’m not even sure if the domain was mentioned.

If it were me, I would’ve said something like, “If it helps, I can knock off $100 or show you some other inventory.” That gives the impression of some flexibility—just enough to keep the conversation going—but really puts the pressure back on the buyer to come up. At that point, if the buyer offers $2K, you could counter at $2.8K and likely meet somewhere in the $2.5–$2.7K range. The key is keeping some leverage and not showing your whole hand.

do you have any book recommendations?

I've included some below, but first step is to figure out the pricing before the negotiation. The video below is What Designers Charge for a Logo (concepts apply directly to domain sales). His last statement is the key to pricing. "You guys sell what you do, I sell what the world can do".

It seems that the buyer's maximum price is likely around $1,500, but honestly, I think BitcoinFountain.com has the potential to go for $3,000–5,000, depending on when you sell it. The "fountain" part is a clever nod to faucets, which some people will get, though it's a bit of a niche reference nowadays. If you need the money now, selling for $1,500 isn't that bad, but if you can wait, you might find someone willing to pay more. It's definitely not a five-figure domain, but $1,500 feels a bit low.
