I started domain investing since last Sept. I mainly bought expiring domains at Enom pre-release auction when I started. I do have some nice picks at not very high price in the past year, but there have more and more bidders recently, every nice attractive domain go to very high bids over my capability.

To enlarge my profile with more qualified domains, I decided to focus on hand-picked domains from last month. I spend most of my available time on searching qualify available .COM / .NET/ .ORG domains, and here are the domains I picked since Oct. 20th. (Total 68 domains)

I am sure some names in the list are worth much more than Reg. fee. In fact about 80% of them are registered before and some with developed sites. Currently all of domains are parked (Many names get around 10+ uniques ).

To enhance my confidence for my decision, videofactory.org got a $400 offer through Sedo already, and some names in list get positive appraisal by other domainers. Now I am sure that my list would returm me lot in future years, and I will spend more time on searching hand-pick available names

Don't feel upset if you don't have enough budget to backorder / bids on nice domains. Spend your time, and somce nice domains are still available

Let's Move!

pretty nice domains there.

I like loanstool.com - this one have some big potential, like mortgage calculator, loan calculator... can be developed into something like domaintools.com

Good job.

Agreed, some nice names, and a $400 offer is very nice. I would lean more to the .coms, the other extensions get much lower prices, so only take the very best there.

Some are nice names, but some I would pass on. Don't be in a hurry, money only spends oince.

Thanks for the warm comments from all of you :)

I will continue searching and pick more names. I think that domaining also follow the 20/80 business principal: 20% domains from my pick list would be sold at a nice price to return back. Left would be sold at reg. fee or drop again 2 or 3 years later :)

As long as it is properly capitalized. LoansTool.com is nice. LoanStool.com could be little nasty.

In my opinion these are the best name you registered here, just out of the .coms anyhow, have not got time to think about the rest. Though I personally like .org better than .net, .net always looks like you could't get .com but .org due to its not for profit heritage has a nice feel about it, not that has anything to do with money though, just domain pride

1. webhostingweek.com
2. researchtrend.com

trademarkstudy.com sounds cool but don't know how big a market there is for it

I liked CityCruises.net the most. Lots of potential with that one.

I initially adopted this approach too. Hand regging names. But frankly, after doing that for about 3 months and not making a single decent sale, I knew I had to move on. It didn't work for me, but perhaps it would for you.
Good luck!

nice hand reg you made SellBusinessDomains...
those whohave time to search for good names can still do nice hand regs but most people believe it is impossible already cause they think they are all gone or you will only find names with xxx characters

congrats for these names!!!

care to share any methods? I'm impressed

Thanks for all of your nice words :)

To Wisedude,
I don't have any special methods for this.. it is a time consuming work. Maybe the only tips is use Godaddy Bulk Search (Can search 500 domains one time). Some times find one good available name after a few thousands searching :)

I mean, how do you compile the list of names you're deciding you're going to attempt for?

thats the art of domaining but technically it can be named as brainstorm (and a nice brainstorm as he uses the bulk search) :)
BTW, an advice is if you use bulk search and you find a name available, reg it immediately after your search... there are threads here about this; the person searches for a name it is available and the person doesnt reg it... in the next day the name was gone (it has never happened to me using moniker bulk search though)

Yes, just as bricio said, do brainstorming, use keyword analyzer (OVT is dead, but some semilar sites works well :) ), then make bulk search, and register the one you like asap when if really like it :)

Good luck!

Good job w/the hand picked names. You've got some nice ones. I've been doing the same thing, picking up some real clunkers along the way (as some of the appraisers on this forum can attest to!). But I think I'm beginning to get the hang of it. One good name should make up for most of the bad ones. If not, well, it was cheap tuition.

I am hesitant to join conspiracy theories but this has now happened to me more than once. Could be coincidence, I guess, but I won't be taking any more chances. Are there any good bulk search sites that are known to be safe?
