Okay I've a number of domains coming up to expiry date soon (they are all between 10-12 May). I have 16 in total, of which I think 4- 6 of which I could get a reasonable or modest amount for, the rest have little or no value (but I may have them appraised here first). I have a number of questions before putting them up:

1) From reading posts on here it looks like Godaddy seems to be the best place for a relatively quick sale, with a few saying Flippa is good too (though primarily for sites which are already developed). Thus I will go with Godaddy.

1b) How useful are premium listings?

1c) Since Afternic is now owned by Godaddy, does this mean there will not be a problem if I put it on auction at Godaddy whilst simaultaneously

2) Will the value of a domain be less if the expiry date is coming up- i.e. should I renew the ones which may have the most value to add more time on?

3) To increase the chance of it being sold or value of the domain, should I setup a wordpress site for each of them with a very basic sales page?

Afternic will list them on godaddy for you automatically. You cannot count on a quick sale unless they are fantastic or you do outbound marketing yourself.

What kind of outbound marketing campaign would you recommend?

If you can share a few sample domains, you'll get better advice here. Not all domains deserve same treatment for sale.

I'll probably put a few of the names I'm not sure of on the appraisal section. Can anyone answer this- should I renew the domains which I think will have most value?

I think you have left it far too late, less than a month, to get any kind of sales at reasonable prices. I think some places will not even accept your domain with less than a month left.

Your best bet would be to auction them off on NamePros. If you have any half-decent domains, they will sell cheaply, and those that don't sell, you know you shouldn't have purchased in the first place. Use it as a learning experience for any future purchases.

I will renew the 4-6 ones which I am led to believe have value, the rest I may dump or flog cheaply. None of them cost a fortune anyway.

When you renew a domain, I assume this isn't affected by the "No transfer to another registrar within 3 months" rule, as thats only for new registrations?

Yep. That is probably true at most registrars.
