Hi everyone! What do you guys think about putting soon to expire names up for auction at TDNAM? Does anyone know if there are any rules regarding this? I'm currently involved in a situation that has turned into a huge mess.
Purchased a domain from an individual on TDNAM on Feb 24. Paid for it and it showed up in my domains won account saying it would be available to me on March 26th. When it didn't by 3/27, I contacted Godaddy and was told the person who sold it did not transfer properly and I needed to contact them. In the meantime I realized it was being auctioned again, this time as an expired name. (Apparently expired on March 5).
They pulled it out of the auction and told me it would be in my account within a day or so. It wasn't, so I contacted them again. This time I was told the name expired on March 5th without a transfer and I needed to again contact the seller.
I contacted the seller who told me he initiated a transfer on Feb 25th and it was basically my fault for not moving quickly. I received no transfer information and didn't expect any as my TDNAM account clearly stated it would not be available until after March 26th.
Now TDNAM is telling me seller should not have sold a domain so close to expiration as the transfer process can take awhile. The end result is they want seller to either pay redemption fee (80.00) or it gets auctioned again.
My feeling is they allowed the domain to be auctioned, accepted payment, and now the domain should be delivered. I sent them another request and they are now looking into it more carefully and will be back to me.
I apologize for the length of this post, but would love to hear thoughts and experiences anyone would be willing to share.
Thanks.
