Right, so after looking through Sedo Marketplace today decided to buy a domain using the Buy Now option on Sedo. , Problem is after reading through the Seller agreement it was clear to me the seller on Sedo did not own the domain and after contacting the real owner via looking at Whois information the real owner had no idea his domain was for sale.. Am I within my rights to request an immediate refund ? or should I let the transfer process play out knowing it will never happen? I have seen other domains I am interested in on Sedo but lost some confidence with this experience surely its up to Sedo to maintain the integrity of their marketplace. anyway this ever happened to anyone or here?

You better contact them asap!!!!

Some of my domains are listed on Sedo and i closed my account there last year. I think the previous owner had them listed and Sedo needs to pull them down. I'm calling them tomorrow. You better send an email out tonight, then call them first thing in the morning.

It happens. Folks sell a name, or let it drop, etc; and forget to remove it from aftermarket platforms, such as Sedo. Given the vast amount of names listed it is easy to go unnoticed until either someone buys it, as in your case, or the new registrant tries to list it on Sedo, finding it is already showing listed.

I would simply give them a call, rather than using email. Nothing will happen with your money, as they will not release the funds without first having control of the name. Explain the situation, get a refund. You might even be able to discuss a sale direct with the current registrant, saving both parties unnecessary transaction fees.

I would be interested in learning of the outcome, should you decide to update with the resolution. GL

Thank you all for taking time to respond . Sedo has refunded the money today. I also wanted to note I was just about to buy another domain on there today and decided to call first to confirm if the seller was indeed the owner and you probably can guess what I'm about to say next! Yes that domain also was on the account of a previous owner, I guess the lesson here is if the nameservers do not point to sedo better double check before buying now.

Interesting as I use Sedo more than any other platform as I like their interface and they tend to sell more of the names I am into. Never had any issue with them.

I have to restart my Sedo membership just so i can put tickets in to have them remove domains that I now own that are still being listed on their website.

There has to be thousands of domains on there that are no longer owned by the person who listed it.

Beware Sedo and their "hidden" fees. I recommend stay away from Sedo.
