Sedo Domain Statistics Not Worth Squat? Buyer Beware!!

I purchased a domain at a Sedo auction that supposedly had 700 to 900 uniques per day, after a couple of days the traffic dried up to NOTHING! I paid close to $500 dollars for the domain, I guess if it was real the price would have been higher. I believed that the UV per month was legit traffic, I guess not, you live and learn. My emails to Sedo also go unanswered. Has anyone else been scammed on Sedo auctions?

There are several yahoo directory listings from several regions and countries, I thought I did my home work, guess not.

Did you get their whois info ? How much time has gone by since the whois reflected your info ?

I got burned by this the first two times I bought a domain from Sedo. I have since found out that you may ask your Sedo representative to verify that the traffic is legit and also what the CTR/RPM is. I think that if you ask the seller and they lie to you about this information before you bid, then Sedo may refund your money, but only if you ask first and are lied to about the traffic. Otherwise, they say buyer beware, and do your own homework first, they claim, like TDNam, that the stats are just a guide.
Bottom line is ask before buying/bidding on Sedo always.

Sedo has finally gotten back to me, said there isn't much they can do for me but in the future I can check with them to verify the integrity of the traffic, just as Sleepys said.

I always look at traffic stats as fake unless there are more than enough solid backlinks to prove otherwise. Checking referrers and traffic origins are also helpful in picking out fraud.
