Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I wanted to close/delete my account at "Snapnames.com", because I am not using their website anymore.
They asked me to upload my Passport-documents (via some 3rd-party entity they are using) in order to close my customer-account.
There is not even any money involved - I just asked them to close my customer-account with them.

I will definitely not upload my Passport or make a photo of my face or any other crap...
If you can't close it, you can edit it so all the data is false and useless.

BrandingGo.com is invalid or fake listing on Sedo , your platform is worst full of fake listings , your support doesn't care,

add it to your sedo acct (verifying via TXT) and then mark it "not for sale". This proves to Sedo you own it, and keeping it in your account ensures no one can list it except you.

Here is the correspondence with support. They could not point to any law that requires them to carry out such verification with copies of documents/selfie, even after several requests. They could not provide this information to me either by email or in the chat with their agent. Everyone can draw their own conclusions. I have already drawn mine, and I simply removed all my 22,000+ 4L.com domains from this platform.

Payouts for sold domains are not available through PayPal, only to a bank account. At the same time, for the money to be credited to the bank account, you need to provide the recipient's first and last name. If they are entered incorrectly, the bank will not credit the funds.

This is the funniest part of this situation, because they require me to pass verification and provide a copy of my passport to some unclear service to make sure that it is really me. At the same time, this check can easily be done without any documents, because SEPA VoP (Verification of Payee and has been mandatory for all EU banks since October 9, 2025), allows checking the first and last name of the account recipient and making the payment only if they match. Therefore, it is obvious that if the name John Smith is listed in my SEDO account, and the bank details where I want to receive the money also show John Smith, and if my bank in EU confirms upon request that these bank details really belong to John Smith, then this should be enough.

Banks and payment systems are responsible with their license for following all rules and regulations. If I was able to open a bank account in the EU in my own name, then I can also pass verification at SEDO. I simply will not do it as a matter of principle, because I do not want to show my personal documents to unclear services that may use them in unclear ways.

This makes me think that the real goal of all this is not to make sure that I will actually receive the money, but, for some reason, to collect the seller's personal documents.

Selling a domain can be quite challenging... it's not a pleasant experience, and after dealing with the difficulties of selling a domain, you encounter yet another issue: receiving the proceeds from the sale.

Well if it went through the NY office, you could be required to do that. AML laws need to rule out that you are not both the buyer and seller, which of course would be an AML flag.

If you have a company a FEIN should do.

$3k is below AML limit, just saying.

Several years ago I had fairly good results in selling domains at SEDO, but not anymore.
I read comments in this thread, but I still do not understand what has happened.
Can someone please explain.
Or tell me about the best alternative to SEDO ???

Last year, I submitted a ticket on February 9 and received a reply on October 10
I'm not surprised about that:
I phoned them twice [ different days different times ], a couples of years ago, to their Uk phone number and the same guys answered me both my calls:

Chit-chatting, it turned out that it was the same guys who read the emails I send them before my calls so, I realized that, most probably, they haven't a big task force in terms of Help Center.

Tnx.

I don't know all the requirements, but there are flags at 3k, 5k, and 10k, depending on the transaction type. And, I would guess a company can reduce those internally however they want based on TOS.

Hopefully OP gets his money.

Hi

in general, there’s nothing wrong with using sedo. they have a wide audience and buyer friendly search function. been a user since 2004.
sold several 4l com in the auctions and had two others sales at BiN in last 12 months and I only have about 100 or so domains

have received 5 figure payments to paypal in the past from sales, so it’s not an issue for everyone, though some regions may have restrictions or require additional validations

my alternative is after nic , and have sold one domain there so far this year

imo…

Payouts for sold domains are not available through PayPal, only to a bank account.

I just Googled this and it's true - Sedo is getting rid of Paypal for anything other than parking revenue, and are replacing it with bank-only transfers with tons of security hoops to jump through.

Well, I guess that means I just delete any offer I get from Sedo.

Another new CEO tip. Looks like Sedo using cloudflare now. Maybe it's on my end only, but some landers taking up to 30 seconds to load.

Can go back and forth between other providers, that load within 2 seconds, and Sedo 20-30 seconds, and it's repeatable.

Not every day, but frequently.

Hi,

Someone listed TODAY my exclusive Dynadot domain portfolio dynadot.com/user/premiums on Sedo and Afternic without my permission:

It's the same thing as someone listing your real estate for sale without permission. This kind of scam ruins the reputation of the domain industry. It means platforms like @Sedo end up deceiving buyers by offering inventory they don't actually have.

If you like my domains, you must buy them first and only then list them as yours. Selling someone else's property without permission is theft.

I hope you don't have Fast Transfer enabled.

I hope you don't have Fast Transfer enabled.
On the Sedo side, If you list your domain with SedoMLS Premium activated, Fast Transfer will be activated too.

Bad news is that you CAN NOT opt-out the SedoMLS Premium option once activated.

Fast Transfer is something Al Capone would "invent" if he was alive today.

"Come on, ya mamalukes, I needs some new way to steal domains faster and easier. Put on yer thinkin' caps and finds me a way to do it afore I kills ya!"

If you change the listing from buy now to make offer, it removes the sedo mls fast transfer. If you add the buy now back to the listing, you have to opt in again.
