Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Somebody should corner them at some event or some domain bloggers should really put it out there, try go get down to the bottom of it.

I see better 4 character domains going unsold here, there they have some of the worst letter 4 character domains. Somebody over there looked at scourer.net or specious.net and thought, yeah, those are great domains, they should be in the auction.

Is it 1 person picking them, a group. Who are they? Who did they know to get their job, etc? I would love to see a live interview of them explaining the picks.

Sedo template playing game is a disaster. For a long time I've been loyal Sedo customer, in particular parking adult domains. Unfortunately, Sedo is constantly losing my business and it seems earlier or later I'll have zero domains parked with them.

First, for about 2 years I'm trying to convinience Sedo to fix a bug where adult domains (correctly marked as such by G) are constantly losing their adult status in sedo system. My SedoPro account manager is and was always very helpful forwarding the domains in question to tech team, but they never fixed it. Resultingly, now I'm constantly removing domains from Sedo after finding a new batch of adult domains which lost adult status.

Now, the most recent "improvement":
"We have replaced some older parking layouts with newer layouts with stronger performance. Since the majority of the layouts previously available for selection were no longer in line with the latest status of our development activities and the layouts in question were only in use for a small number of domains, we have deactivated these layouts and retained only those with the strongest performance. Our team is constantly at work on developing new parking layouts and improving existing ones."

Sedo competitors should really pay the sedo guys who develop these "improvements". Indeed, now DomainSponsor/Bodis/etc. will receive even more domains which were previously parked with Sedo.

I wonder where is a red (or so) lander with a large noticeable horisontal search field? Do not remember exactly how it was called. This lander was usable and money-making for some domains as per my own multi-lander tests.

I wonder why does Sedo now show generic non-adult webarchiv lander for adult domains configured as PORTAL? (earlier it was adultportal). Again, a number of adult domains DO perform better on 2-click adult lander with adult kws

Sedo have definitely lost the plot with auctions full of $99 useless names.

Inferior Great Domain auctions.

Failure to keep up with the changing face of domaining.

Huh, thats funny because I get my domains incorrectly marked as 'adult' when they shouldnt be. I get keywords erased from my listings. I get templates switched on me without me doing so. My domains never display "relevant" ads for the master keyword.. Sedo has become a tremendous fail.

AGAME: your case looks like Goole-reated issue, not sedo-specific. You may contact any account manager with any (responsive) Google-based parking company, not necessary Sedo, and ask them to send the list the list of domains to G to remove adult mark. After this is done, if you want to have the domains be Sedo-parked, you may 1) remove domains from Sedo 2) re-add domains to Sedo 3) configure them as you like in non-adult config

According to my experience, G often incorrectly marks domains as adult if they are related to women in general, lingerie, British territory of Sussex and in a number of other cases

Its Sedo. They correct it and a handful of other domains get marked adult some weeks later. I have to constantly monitor 1000+ domains. Its so time consuming. Keywords are being erased (thats not Google) and templates are being changed on me (thats also not Google). Its Sedo. I am leaving them Aug 31. Too much work and really no payoff at all. Less than 5 dollars per month PPC on 1000+ domains is not worth parking at all.

Thanks AGAME for the clarification... Does this also happen internally only (real domain status with Google not changing?) If so, it seems I'll need to start monitoring non-adult part of my Sedo portfolio as well! What a time waste :(

Yea, its internal to Sedo. I find I am monitoring Sedo daily and it IS wasting my time. Constantly having to report issues to them. I should not have to do that.

if sedo dont step up then the competition will take the aggrieved consumers, right?

Most of our domains are at Dynadot so we always push them to Sedo, it's no problem because they don't have that silly 60-day lockdown. Then the buyer is free to transfer away to another registrar of their choice right away if they so desire.
That's what you get for using nodaddy.

i can chamge the registrar lock in my godaddy account to unlock, then what does this 60 day lock mean?

Anybody have issues with the reserve price required for the Great Domains auction? I submitted a domain which they accepted except the reserve price was too high. They suggested $99 which seems very low (it's a good, pronouncable, LLLL.com domain). I'm not comfortable listing it at that since if it sells for $99, I've lost money since I paid more then that to obtain it.

Any suggestions about this?

I refuse to list at $99 start for some of the names they suggest $99 for. I did so for 2 domains over the past year and they sold for guess what????? $99 less their fee and I lost money on those sales. Never again.

Especially since the $99 suggested names are usually appraised by Sedo at $699, $999, and higher. Its almost a joke and a slap in the face. If Sedo values a name at $699 then why does its suggest $99 to start? Why not $499 or even $399? Their entire auction process is a joke.

This is kool and new to me.
I 'type in" my domain url into FF browser address bar and immediately get a dropdown indicating the name is for sale at Sedo.

Like to see Sedo add the ability to Tweet out domains that are listed on Sedo.
Namerific and Flippa does it, its a cool tool to use.
Its quick and easy.

According to Sedo search, ICANN-accredited and operating registrar NAMEVAULT is selling their corporate domain namevault.com on Sedo and they already got 1 offer.
http://www.sedo.com/search/details.php4?language=us&domain=namevault.com
I wonder WHAT should happen to force Sedo to clean their database and not to allow inserting domains by those who are not the registrants?

Like to see SEDO give users the ability to see parking stats and even handle domain sales via smartphone apps.

Another sedo appraised domain of mine at $1,999 USD submitted to Great Domains Auction for $599 reserve price was rejected on account of the reserve price is too high.

Their "suggestion"? $99 USD.

I - DONT - THINK - SO

They really need to get some people in that department who know what they're doing. OR they need to re-evaluate their appraisal algorithm.

I cant count how man domains were rejected by them and sold at Sedo (and even privately = loss of money for them!) at much much higher prices than my original reserve price. Oh well.
