Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I would have thought that "wikipedia" is a global trademark. How is that allowed to be sold?
Because India is NOT covered by their WIPO-TM.
@namecheck.com type "wikipedia", then move mouse over WIPO and list of countries will appear.

Is there proof of that or does it just seem that way?
Garbage Domains are your best proof.
Is it so hard to understand that everything in this world is selling???

Checking this next month's auction, pretty horrible again. I don't get all those crappy .nets. Those 3 character in a .com would go for about $130 to a few hundred maybe. In .net, I figure less than $100, if somebody actually would want them, I don't see why tho. I tried submitting a few for the first time in over a year, regected some decent .me, like bahamas but one got in, xylophones (com). We shall see.

Sedo's cleaning ladies opinion.

- madeinaustralia.net (Quality requirements not met)
- esaudiarabia.net (Quality requirements not met)
- ekuwait.net (Quality requirements not met)
- emonaco.net (Quality requirements not met)

Are they that bad?

Yep, e + .net kills it, when you can go hand reg e(different countries, cities, major keywords).net right now.

I tend to agree with the ecountry .net . Market in general is poor.

But MadeInAustralia.net?

I am not sure they post what sold in the auction itself. Morgan posts each week with weekly sales, here is the latest. But as for the auction itself, unless you're actively tracking it as the names close I think they keep that info to themselves along with how they accept/reject names. :)

I had a name sell with them recently and the buyer never paid. Lost over $1000 sale. No repercussions to the buyer whatsoever. Not sure why I even want to sell with them when they dont protect the seller at all.

If a buyer on Sedo does not pay they are normally banned and the details are provided in your transfer interface so that if you wish you can take action even if is simply name and shame.

If the buyer is out of the country (or even out of your region) then its near impossible, financially, to even consider legal action. The buyer knows this and so this will continue. If I had the money for all domain sales that dead-beat buyers balked on, I'd be a nicely wealthy person!

Sedo is not immune to this, I know, but since this is a Sedo thread then my idea to fix it pertains to Sedo. They should require that a bidders credit card have a hold on it for each bid they make. By the end of the bidding, the latest hold on the card becomes a charge. If they dont have a credit card then they need to provide a letter of credit from a bank in order to bid. People can not purchase a home unless they get prove to the realtor and the seller that they can get funding from a bank via a letter of financial approval of some sort. Why should it be any different for domains? These transactions can and do hit the 5 and 6 figure amounts. Its a sham and bidders know they are able to walk away from their contract.

Oh well. The industry as a whole needs to come together and solidify standards for sales and become more transparent and open.

Great Domains-This a real gem, how in the world do they pick them!

I thought typos fell under their general "(Quality requirements not met)" BS excuse to reject a name for life......... wow. Whats next - trademarks that a seller doesnt own?

Wow

Its like someone turned off the PPC on Sedo from Aug 1st onward. I've got 1000+ names and have earned less than a dollar in 6 days now. Whoopie!!!!!! Gotta love Sedo parking. Landing pages that do not make any sense for the domain/keyword and payouts that suck.
