Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

They buyer is not in a position to withdraw their bid and Sedo are the ones to take legal action or make threats to the buyer, and I believe sometimes they do that, other times they don't want to.

Well in my case they didn't bother as it was $XXX deal. So they simply wrote me kind of "go sue him if you like".

The buyer accepts that since there is an escrow service they will never get the domain from you, only from Sedo.

Not exactly. In my case the buyer "accepted" my "offer" and still is waiting for 60 days to pass so he will get the name directly from me as I never got Sedo's request to push the name to its escrow account.

I think they are supposed to ban non-paying buyers from using Sedo. If they don't they have no credibility.

search for a certain domain name

I have the impression that search is not working properly... When typing a word which is part of several domain names, not all names come up.

@cmason

You can search for a certain domain name by clicking on the edit button next to the "Domain name" header. Here you will see the option to "Filter". If you click this box, the search bar will appear.

In this same drop down search bar, you can "Filter by group", which allows you to type in several names and view them together; separate from your portfolio.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

As per my post, I am aware that this box exists, but it takes too many clicks to get there. This is a minimal issue though as the search does not function like it did before.

For instance, before I could search "brid" and get all domains that CONTAIN that string, such as "hybrid" as the results - this was great! Now, the domain has to START with the string, so I am forced to search "hybrid". (this was just an example)

Luckily, I only have a couple hundred domains at Sedo, but I'm sure this will both those with more than it does me.

Any ideas how I can display all my Sedo domains containing exact term, ie "tube"? If I choose 'filter' from dropdown menu and type "tube", I get only exact search - domain tube.*

Applying for Priemium auction on Sedo

How long does it take for sedo to review my domains. It has been more then 3 days. Also I heard that if they do approve domains for the greatdomains priemium acutions, that those domains can not be posted anywhere else.

I also can't filter my domains by keyword anymore. I used to do this a lot, for example find all domains containing the phrase "cash". The filter box was always displayed, you put in the search term and pressed return and got a complete list.

Now you need to know where the filter function is hidden, go through several clicks, and then after all that it does not work. What was the point of this change by Sedo?

The old "my domains" page was more practical and stable. Now because some programmer has spent a lot of hours created the new poor system we have they will never admit and change it back.

I'm especially annoyed about sorting not working with one click anymore and not being able to go to to next page with one click. Generally making any change is much more difficult. Sometimes you click and nothing happens. I few times I received an error message when I tried to update simple information.

Sedo has thousands of customers. They should test the new features on a smaller user group before releasing.

Apparently the manager who is responsible from the development team does not use the website himself. If he did he wouldn't allow such poor development to go live. When you actually try to do something things are more difficult now.

Configuration tool not working now-for me anyway. Tried 3 times to configure a name with the various choices, saved each time and then it went back to original settings each time!

Domain Management is COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL on my older computer. It is stuck on page one, and nothing works. They also killed off my custom view, now it displays mostly irrelevant information on the first 20 domains, and stays there no matter what I do. The old one worked fine, bring it back.

Note to all business owners: A web development department will destroy your business with stupid, untested "upgrades" that only serve to make work for the employees.

I just sold a domain and the sale was super fast. It took hours after buyers purchase until the credit note was created. If the paypal payment arrives today the whole sale will be completed within a day.

Interestingly they wanted me to push a Dynadot domain which I happily did. Normally they require transfers and they drive me crazy. The buyer is from the UK. I don't think they are using Dynadot normally. Not many people know about Dynadot outside the domain community.

I'm wondering if sedo has finally listened to feedback and is encouraging buyers to accept a push instead a transfer. Some of my recent sales took 6 weeks because the domain was locked by Godaddy for transfers and buyer insisted to transfer.

I thought Sedo always took a Sedo account push if Sedo has an account at the registrar.

So at Name/Dynadot/GoDaddy it's an internal push.

At Heart Internet (as an example) they don't have an account and they request a transfer - even though the account setup there is free..

This is what they were doing about two years ago. However lots of my recent Godaddy sales took over a month because the buyer wasn't using Godaddy. I posted few screenshots on previous page of this thread. There is another domainer like me who reported the same problem.

About two months ago I helped somebody buy a domain at sedo and we used skype screen sharing. On the sedo page it was asking the buyer to chose any domain registrar in the world without telling them anything where the domain is currently registered and without encouraging them to open an account there.

Hopefully this has changed now. We need to see how the page looks from buyers perspective to be sure.

I sold 25 domains in last 12 months at sedo and most were transferred. I use only known registrars. If sedo asks me for a domain push it is a welcome surprise.

Yes but I think it depends on:
  1. the registrar
  2. the buyer

For instance, if you have a name that is at godaddy, if Sedo was to accept the push, then the name would be locked down for another 60 days because of the change of ownership.

If the buyer does not want to keep the name at godaddy then a registrar transfer is in order.

Sedo cannot oblige you to transfer. You have an absolute right to push to Sedo because they offer an escrow service, and that is made clear to buyers and sellers. There is no reason to listen to anything Sedo say to you that suggests otherwise, and if they try that you should think about what their motives are.

As Erdinc has pointed out, the problem lies in communication between Sedo and the buyers.

The longer it takes for a domain to change hands the more money Sedo make on interest or parking, and savings in staff time spent on pushing domains.

OK, we got search button, but new domain management tool is horrible (at least for me). Its extremely slow and bugged, and I have decent computer. Web browser is Firefox, latest. Loos like 50MB Silverlight code is running behind :)

i think sedo is really really slow on doing transactions most of the time the buyer is too lazy to pay too eager to bid.
