Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I have an offer on one of my domain, I want to make a counter offer but have a doubt.
After I make a counter offer should I hold onto the domain name for 7days if the buyer on sedo does not respond ?
Or can I sell it to someone else if I get a different offer directly not on sedo within 7days ?
after your counter offer you need to wait for buyer response ( at worst whole 7 days) as u cant cancel but only send another counter offer with lower price

Traffic Statistics Cleanup

At Sedo, we're dedicated to offering only the highest quality products and services to help you make the most of your domain portfolio. In a continued effort to do so, we've made some important changes to Sedo's parking program and are conducting a parking statistics "cleanup."

What's changing?

From now until October 31, 2010, we will be switching the parking program to JavaScript. This change is in line with the new standard protocol of our primary upstream advertising provider. On November 1, 2010, we will also clean our parking statistics to reflect an improved method of traffic counting.

I just want to say that SEDO's "premium" auctions have lost all credibility. Just look at the recent offerings and then look at the preliminary list for December.

ParkandPipe.us with $50-99k reserve? WTF.

Sedo lost credibility with their new search whereby a search for Keyword would show 300 unrelated names before Keyword.TV. imho.

A search for f2f will findczescikomputerowe221f2f.pl before f2f.tv ?

Or Goth finds sacramentogoth.com before goth.tv?

Puhleeze.

Gotta agree and considering the .tv auction earlier this year it really quite a weird attitude to what will no doubt a major extension in the upcoming years

How dare you question the selections of Sedos team ? They have the best appraisers in the world who have their finger on the pulse when it comes to domain names, their value, their popularity, and their likelihood to sell.

So what does SEDO do with a seller who refuses to transfer the domain?

I put in a bid that I thought was fair (low but the name is < 1 year old and expires in under a month)... The owner put it to auction (yawn) and it went through 7 days where no one else even looked at it (surprise surprise - it's a purposeful domain, not a a naturally talented one:) )

Now I paid my money and it's been in escrow since the 23rd October. I am not getting any feedback from anyone (3 days or so now)....and nothing from the seller....

What does Sedo do to actually ensure this happens?

That sucks...I have never had this happen to me...yet. I wish you the best of luck and hope it works out.

seems every sale is different and it could be as simple as the clerk who was handling your sale has been sick and no one has taken up their slack ,i have read stories here of some sales taking up to a month to complete , main thing is you get your name ....patience is all you can do after initial complaints , try going to transfer tab and adding your comments/complaints there

The problem is probably that I'm impatient! I'll wait around. It's not the end of the world if it falls through. I haven't built my business on it yet.

That sucks...I have never had this happen to me...yet. I wish you the best of luck and hope it works out.
Thanks :)

I wish I was more patient!

Pushed today. It took 2 weeks... seemed like an eternity :) I'm spoiled by the normal NP auctions where a transfer takes about 2hrs beginning to end :)

Dear all
Please tell me how could I hide the information of mine when I sell the domain name at sedo.com
Now I'm using the private whois with name.com
And when I list the domain name at sedo.com
How could I hide all information when the buyer buy my domain?
Thank you very much

Anyone else noticed a significant decrease in their traffic stats at Sedo lately? Since they made some changes on Nov. 1, every time I log in and look at the "Domain Parking" section of my control panel, the number of hits I'm getting on various domains has been WAY low.

Normally, by this time of day, I'd have views on at least 20-25 different domains, and now it's only 8.

Anyone else seeing these changes?

Seeing some huge changes over here. I had a domain that was getting 500-1000 visitors per day and making about $6 per day, but now it's down to about 250 at $0.75 per day. I understand that the numbers before may have been inflated, but you shouldn't see everything cut down this much.

Same thing, traffic and income well down since the 1st November revamp.

We are getting skinned alive by all the parking providers.

My overall income is down to 15% of what it was 3 years ago! :td:

Sorry, it sucks.

And to add insult to injury your domain search is the pits throwing up hundreds of unrelated searches for a simple keyword search. How can anybody find a name that may be searching for?

Hi, I'm not sure why you'd want to hide your information from the buyer. After all, it's useful for them to be able to contact you through the WhoIS because sometimes buyers can approach you directly.

When you sell a domain at Sedo, you're going to be asked to submit a written invoice, anyway, which will have your information as well as the buyer's information on it. So there's really no way to hide.

Unless you anticipate some sort of legal trouble or are squatting on a name you shouldn't be, I'd leave your information public. People like to know who they're dealing with, and without that transparency it will be hard for people to trust you.

Read what I wrote. I specifically mentioned that there is an invoice created that has the seller AND the buyer's information on it.

I don't see how the transaction can be completed if you refuse to give up this information, or falsify the documents. Sedo will have your financial & payment information so they'll know who you are.

The whole point is that they're taking care of secure transactions and making sure there's no fraud, so why would you want to hide?

Usually people who aren't doing anything wrong have nothing to hide in the first place.

From the FAQ
Question
Why aren't all contact details visible during a domain transfer?

Answer
As Sedo is a neutral and confidential marketplace, we will not release any information about you to the other party involved during the domain negotiation process. All information provided to us is anonymous and secure.

However, once a sales agreement has been reached, a buyer will be given the sellerโ€™s full name and physical address as provided to Sedo. After the transaction has been completed, a seller will then be given the buyerโ€™s full name and physical address. No other contact information will be given out at any time.
