Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I've been selling and listing domains on SEDO since '07. For the past several months I have grown increasingly weary of their process.

I have submitted great domains to them for premium auctions yet they get rejected. In the same auction, there will be ridiculous domains that have little to no verifiable value, etc. This burns repeatedly....

To take it one step further, I have submitted 2 domain names over the past 2 - 5 months...the 2 domains both begin with "php..." well each time the domains were rejected for auction.

FASTFORWARD to June/July...I allowed the 2 said domains to expire at name and one was picked up in their "expiring names" area...imagine my surprise and shock when I see one of the domains NOW listed in the upcoming PREMIUM DOMAIN AUCTION at SEDO. This is the same domain name that SEDO has rejected at least 2/3 times with the most recent being in June for the Premiumn Auction.

I contacted them just to be like WTF?!?!? and I just received the standard link to how domains quality plays a role and possible how recent the domain was registered as well was in the reasoning....HELLO.......

Finished my rant, just makes me lose it at times............

Was the name phpblogs.com? If so I doubt it is going to sell, they probably got it right when they rejected it in my view.

Secondly did you submit it with no reserve, because that is what the current owner has done and the only chance of it ever selling at auction in my view.

If your names *always* get rejected then you need to look at the quality of those names and the minimum prices you are suggesting, not Sedo.

You have to leave any emotional attachment you have to domains at the door...phpblogs as mentioned has very little value as I can see compared to something being auctioned right now like sex.com or laptop.co.uk

In fact, when you get right down to it, it is next to useless.

If you had computerblogs.com or similar it would be a completely different story.

Sedo Auctions?

I am new to Sedo and I am wondering how submitting to auctions works? What are the risks?

Also, do you have to enter a domain into an auction for it to be purchased?

Yep. It happens quite a bit. I wouldn't waste too much anxiety on it. Just report them to Sedo and move on.

Only ever had is happen once, out of several dozen auctions.

They probably have more than one person looking at them. I don't think that name should have gone, even tho it's there now. There are some others where you have to wonder, names I wouldn't even hand reg.

you can list for fixed price or offers and when or if you receive an offer you can decide to send it to auction in the 'open market'
although it couls lose the sale ??

One approach could be to state 'i am unsure of current market value so i would like to send it to auction and let the market guide the price' this does not make you sound greedy

Also in the 'my domains' section there is a link down the bottom to submit to premium auctions as well

please note .... i only answered because of the cute puppy !!!!!

Yes just saw it :)

Again results are showing on 5 pages (as a default setting) but not on 1 page.

One thing I like. The feature when you're clicking on the name in the list of the auctions

I've also experienced not knowing where to find my EPP code with a local registrar but managed to get it within 24hours when I filed a ticket. Try searching on domain transfers through its FAQ section or maybe you can go on ahead and file a ticket as well and hope you get the code asap :D good luck and grats on the sale!:bingo:

Go to parking optimizer and set keyword that match your traffic.

About Sedo new searching form:

Try to use basic search in the sedo mainpage (right top corner)
type in "yourdomain.com" and monster search form is activated, instead of direct landing to the "yourdomain.com" selling page.

If I'm looking for exact domain, why do I need to go through all that monster search script instead of direct landing to the page I want?
