Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I had an offer on one of the domains, I submit counter offer with a note... the offer page says "under review" but the buyer makes another offer saying justify the price.

Now, did the buyer see the counter offer? If he did, shouldn't he see the figure as well as the note together rather than later when its posted? Seems really stupid to keep the note under review and release the counter offer figure.

I had the same thing happen to me. Seems utterly ridiculous and hard to believe but I think you are right. I don't see any other explanation for what you described aside from Sedo actually telling the buyer your counter-offer without giving them your comment until later, unless they update the comment for the buyer to see while telling you it is still under review (which would be a separate error unto itself, but at least it would make more sense.)

Terrible business policy. They probably think it helps speed up the sales process (meaning money in their pocket a couple days sooner) but what they need to understand is that it hurts the chances for a sale and ends up costing them money in the end. When a potential buyer sees a price beyond their expectations without a reason they will feel understandably disappointed/frustrated/disgruntled. I'm sure many buyers have walked away from negotiations without giving it a second thought, costing sellers & Sedo thousands of dollars in the process.

Sedo business practices on sales are very disappointing. The transfer agents don't seem to care about holding buyers responsible for purchases. I don't trust the transfer agent to be honest about what is occurring with the sale and his efforts to contact the buyer.

Maybe their hands are tied. Sedo's buyer approval certainly isn't a priority but creating a poor website redesign is. Did the buyer die that he can't pay? Sedo agents need to become more aggressive in collecting funds.

I have look everywhere on the redesigned site that I can think of --- there is absolutely no way to contact customer service that I can find.

There is no phone number.
There is no email address.
There are no support tickets.
Email to support@sedo(dot)com is returned.

Anybody have a way to contact these guys?

There is a little green "Support and FAQ" link in the top right, but I can only see that being successful if "ask a question" = support ticket.

Best of luck!

I second cmason, support question is like support ticket. I think you might have to be logged in. I generally get an answer within 48 hours.

So how do you edit the description once your domain goes in auction?

well... if you are willing to, at least temporarily, change the description for ALL your domains listed at sedo, one "trick" is to change the description of any other domain you have listed, check the box "apply to all domains" and that will even change the description of the domain in auction. Is really only an issue if you have lots of customized descriptions on other domains..... otherwise, you can delete/Change the description for ALL domains again after the auction is over.

hope that helps and good luck with your auction! SP

If Sedo reps ever read this - it would be helpful to have domain descriptions that are specific for each name - plus the ability to have a general text appear for all my domains.

I've just sold domain at SEDO, but then received info from transfer manager:

The buyer has stated that they are unwilling to remit payment for this sale. I have informed them that they are reneging on a binding contract and will prevent them from bidding on further domains, however we will be forced to cancel this sale. Thank you for your understanding.

and

Sedo had to cancel the transaction because the buyer made an unintended or fake bid. The buyer has been warned and action against him has been taken. You might want to take a legal action against the buyer, therefore we have made his contact data available in your sedo contract.

Have you had such a situations before with another buyers? Could you advise me what legal actions may I take? How about verdicts? Were the good for sellers? Where could be hearing? In Germany?

Thanks
Robert

Im having my first sale on sedo and just found out that they have a 30% commission on every domain sold. Are they serious? Don't you think 30% is quite steep?

Thank you for pointing that out. Where can I find the commission rate or even settings on SEDO once domain goes into auction?

Cause I remember SEDO is charging me around GBP30 for a GBP100 sale, saw this before I sent the domain in auction & yes its parked with them.

Once the "Credit Note" is issued - how long to get paid?

Hello,

I am curious how long it has taken people to actually receive the money (via bank transfer ACH) after the "credit note" has been issued? Sedo says 1-2 business days.

Also, has anyone had the deal fall apart after the credit note is issued? How is this is possible at this stage? Fraudulent funding?

Thanks,

BB

that isn't a matter of percentage, but rather their minimum commission on a sale. It is steep (ie more than %10) until it crosses the $500 price barrier. hope that helps to clarify. SP

Am I the only one who finds the new interface annoying and difficult to use?

Before you could see domains for sale/auction etc without having to search the various links. This current "face" must surely be detrimental to business particularly for new potential buyers?
