Sedo Appraisal on my domain

Listed my domain on Sedo. The listing tool they have told me the value was greater than $10,000 and to list it for over $10,000 I would need an appraisal.

I'm debating on paying the $100 as I truly think this domain is actually worth $10,000 or more, but I'm just curious what the pros and cons of getting an appraisal is, and what people's experience is.

The domain by the way is BANKS . Money

Thanks

As I have always said, if one must explain a domain, it is a domain that should not exist.

Why do you think that for the domain to be successful, it has to read as a phrase or sentence?
Perhaps because the domain has to roll out of the tongue ?
The problem is that the keyword + the TLD are somewhat redundant.

I tend to look at new domains extensions like the new domain hacks. That's why free.money invest.money or loan.money make more sense than banks.money or ira.money.

In 'traditional' extensions like .com or ccTLDs, the extension is not considered as part of the brand name.
Example: google.com. Google is the brand, .com is the locator. It is a suffix that only exists for technical reasons - even though many companies are heavily branded around .com.
With new extensions it's different. When the extension is a keyword in itself - it cannot be ignored. It is part of the branding. Big difference.

You summed exactly what I was trying to say but I'm a native french speaker so it's hard to express exactly what I mean in english. Great post and everyone should keep that in mind.

To add something, I think that some new gtlds somehow can work like the old ones because they are more generic, I'm thinking about .club, .onl, .web, .xyz, .world, .center, .global, .tips, .today, .how, .online, .website etc, those can work with almost any one word. But for .money, to me, the extension is part of the brand, like sdsinc said. So it seems wierd to just put 2 related words together but that they don't make sense as a sentence or an exact match. But all this is still new and we never know what will happen.

Reminds me of those emails I get from Nigerian princes promising me $1,000,000 if I help them launder their inheritance, if I can wire them $3000 to process the payment.

Also reminds me of vanity publishing "congratulations we've accepted your manuscript and wish to publish your book, if you agree send us $1750 to print the first 25 copies".

Etc, etc, etc.

Unfortunately there are enough mugs around to make these business models viable, as the OP shows.

Lol all Sedo seems to do is take the .com data and throw that there. How can such a big company have a bad algorithm? Doesnt they make millions? So many bugs and glitches on their website, do they have programmers at all? Ridiculous.

All automated appraisal tools are nonsense... If you go behind that...u will end up in loosing money...

New extension and name combination must make some sense....
Exchange or xchange. Money maes some sense...it can be used as currency exchange site...but banks.money????

Do you think bofa or Citi would buy this name for 10k+ and redirect it to their site...

I don't blame on new gtlds...it depends on what name I register against which TLD...

I thought even .wtf makes some sense with ART....hence registered Art.wtf...

Sedo is a joke. I rarely ever get an offer for a domain. Only domains I've sold were through the great domains auction or promoted to the homepage.

Also their auto appraisal tool is not accurate, it is no different than any other free tool. Best tool you can use is namebio or DNjournal. I haven't seen any reported sales of .money that I can think of.

I would say sedo appraisal is not accurate..
that tools same with estibot, it was an automatic appraisal.. so the OP lose $100 to pay sedo.

Better go to flippa appraisal for free, get more exposure and pay $49 for featured listing.

That's a real knee-slapper. Oh man, you had me going for a second. You do stand-up for a living?

The domain is worthless at the moment. No exceptions. The extension is WAY too new. Holding it for a few years might not be a bad idea, but I doubt ANY bank would ever consider buying this. Why would they when they could get an established .com? Every established bank already has a domain, anyway. If you could get a $50 offer for this, you should consider

True, only the naive people would believe the free appraisal at flippa is good.
