Domain appraisal useless

I wonder if the domain appraisal useless or not.
If you try to appraise a domain in different places you will find a big different between the results from site to another and it is not reflect the real value of the domain,for examp. I appraised a domain name in estibot and the result was $310 while in Sedo was $10,000.

Absolutely it's useless and waste your money,
everyone can appraise a domain without any knowledge.

It's impossible to predict the ultimate selling price, in that sense appraisals are useless. However it's easier to tell whether a name has the potential to sell or not.
Appraisals are also based on experience, gut feeling and comparable sales...

I have listed around ten domain names for appraisal in this forum but only two of them got any response.
And the ones that did get a response, the response was very vague.

I think that the only way to find out the value of the domain name is when somebody makes you an offer and buys the domain name.

When I give an appraisal number I first take a look at the searches, the commercial intent and competition as well as the location of the domain, if it is a wonderful name in a extremely high volume area such as computer sales then it gets more, as well as if the grammar is all correct for example computermice/com will get a far better value than computermouses/com and computerperipherals/com will get a far higher value still even though it is longer..

It is not an exact science and never will be, you just cannot predict how big a cheque someone will write, all I can say is how much I might be willing to put down or collect if I were in their position.
