Hello!!!

I've had a frustrating week...

Last week I sold my domain name on Sedo insurance.casino for $$$$ to Sriram Gopalan. He immediately wanted a receipt with my signature. (Red flags are going up.) I waited and waited and no payment...then I decided to do a name look up and I found my domain for sale on Dan.com with Sriram Gopalan listed as the owner. :rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage:
I contacted Sedo and they said that his cc was rejected due to security reasons. They would try a wire transfer and then cancel the escrow.

I CONTACTED DAN.COM
(See below)
Sriram Gopalan is selling insurance.casino on your site.

He bought the domain from me on Sedo over a week ago... but has yet to pay for it...so he should not be selling a domain name he does not own.
Their reply:

Thank you for notifying us.

Please grant a print screen of the domain residing in your registrars account and I will make sure to remove the domain for you.

What kind of security does DAN.COM use??? I guess anyone can sell a domain without verification??? Why am I on the hook to provide them with proof of ownership??? HEY DAN.COM - SHOULDN'T SRIRAM GOPALAM BE PROVING HIS OWNERSHIP OF THE DOMAIN???

PS Everyone...it is STILL UP FOR SALE!!!!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
maybe a case of previous owner of this domain trying to buy it back from you for some reason? i say this cause his dan listing is pretty old one... certainly older than the time he bought it on sedo from you.

hope you get paid. but imo its just not the case of someone listing on dan after they bought (without paying) from you. so really, all this imo should be more about your sedo sale... and getting paid there... rather than an old dan listing. gl. cheers

I am super confused why people are defending this turkey...
He paid for the domain with a fake cc...and knows he has a domain for sale that doesn't belong to him.
From SEDO:
Our system recently flagged the payment due to security reasons. Unfortunately we had to refund the buyer´s credit card payment because the buyer has not sent us the verification documents that our credit card institute has requested.

We have created a new only wire payment request and asked the buyer to resend the payment as soon possible otherwise we have to cancel this transaction.

I found adding my domain to DAN does not need owner verification. I added 4 domains days ago, and I do not need to proof my ownership. I believe on the time of transaction, DAN will do the escrow for it. If if someone else selling my domains on DAN w/o my knowledge, then what will happen is that he/she (the person who is selling) won't be able to complete the transactions.

It happens to me, i just send the proof of my ownership to DAN and problem solved within 24h

You needing to chill has nothing to do with you being a woman. You need to chill.

Domain ownership isn't required to list on DAN. Plain and simple. Like it or not. Don't like it? Don't list there.

It means you need to do your due diligence and let them know that you are the current owner.

This has happened to me on DAN countless times (previous owners listed there.)

Easy fix, and DAN is always prompt about updating. They're just not gonna ignore it.

Also, a domain will never sell unless you're the rightful owner. No risk there.

Just some friendly advice...never tell a woman to chill or that she is being too emotional...not ok. As far as I know this is my thread...I can post whatever story I want to post and tell my story however I want to.

Correct. May be the strategy from Marketplace website to get as many as sales lead. They always can try to sell different domain once buyer engage in communication.

Omg...I didn't ask for anyone to try to solve this for me...I am just letting you know what happened.

Your gender has nothing to do with you over reacting about having to send DAN a screenshot. It happens to all of us at almost all marketplaces. Nothing new.

Many marketplaces wont require any verification unless it's already listed on them by another user. There is an assumption that the seller is going to be honest about their inventory. If the name sells and they dont own it they wont be able to complete the transaction and the marketplace may suspend them if they feel its warranted.

As for this specific deal until I see evidence to the contrary I tend to assume the best. You said the buyer used a fake cc. We dont know that. Sedo even dosent know that, it sounds like they see something that has prompted them to request verification from the buyer that wasnt provided but they could of asked for the verification ebaxsusr ofbthe size of the transaction of if the buyer is from a specific country.

Theres alot of possibilities and not alot of ingormstionas to what exactly happened. Maybe it's a scam, or maybe it's just someone who finds a buyer for a name then tries to buy it from the current owner for less than he already sold it for. Or maybe even he could of been a previous owner that accidentally let it expire and is trying to buy it back from you after realizing it. We simply don't know.

@Verysassyc should not have to supply the burden of proof to @dan. She is not listing on DAN. The burden of proof should go to the party listing on DAN.

Let's not complicate something so simple.

It's not that simple. To list the domain the dan.com user already made a claim of ownership now the OP is making a claim of ownership. So since the OPs claim is more recent why shouldn't she be the one with the burden of proof?

Just for fun...I looked up some more of Sriram Gopalan's domains on Dan.com
and guess what??? They are not owned by him! Check it out!
(I just sent the info with photos to Dan.com) Hopefully they will pull this scammers domains off of their site!

Why are these domains for sale on your site???
These are all for sale on godaddy...Sriram Gopalan does not own them!!! Yet he claims he does?
This guy is a total scammer

Let me simplify this for you...
Because it's sitting in her account!

Then let her prove its sitting in her account. That simple.
Omg...Hey everyone...I did that ok!!! I sent Dan.com three photos of my ownership. So I am sure that will be resolved. I am just letting people know about his name...in case they come across this turkey.

Also...I find it amazing the lengths scammers will go to...I mean this guy has lots and lots of domains for sale that are not his...incredible. Maybe one of your domains is for sale by him??? you never know right???

She stated she listed it on sedo but the non paying buyer listed it on Dan.... Why the hell does she "The owner" have to prove anything at all?

She already said she sent it so it's really a moot point but she was asking dan.com to take action and remove it so she has to be the one to prove she owns it to justify that demand.

Then I sent them this:
Mr. Gopalan sent me an offer on Sedo last week which I accepted. Mr. Gopalan did not pay for the domain name and Sedo has since flagged his credit card number. (See attached files.) Mr. Gopalan continues to sell my domain on your website. I am wondering why Mr. Gopalan has been able to list my domain on your site when he is not the owner? I am also wondering why when I contacted your team I was told to provide evidence that I am the owner? Should it not be Dan.com investigating whether or not Mr. Gopalan is the owner of the domain? I am looking forward to your response.
Thank you,
Christine

Domains like gadget.supplies available to handregister so This could also be because Sriram may have owned and listed these names years before and he just didn't removed his names from dan which happens and can happen with lot of us.

I'm pretty sure it's a felony to list a domain you don't own without prior permission from the owner. That guy should be in jail!

Ok...I get this...we're allowed to let our domains expire...but still keep selling them on websites???
What was thinking!!!
And instead of apologizing for letting this happen...you try gaslighting me???
