Hello!!!

I've had a frustrating week...

Last week I sold my domain name on Sedo insurance.casino for $$$$ to Sriram Gopalan. He immediately wanted a receipt with my signature. (Red flags are going up.) I waited and waited and no payment...then I decided to do a name look up and I found my domain for sale on Dan.com with Sriram Gopalan listed as the owner. :rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage:
I contacted Sedo and they said that his cc was rejected due to security reasons. They would try a wire transfer and then cancel the escrow.

I CONTACTED DAN.COM
(See below)
Sriram Gopalan is selling insurance.casino on your site.

He bought the domain from me on Sedo over a week ago... but has yet to pay for it...so he should not be selling a domain name he does not own.
Their reply:

Thank you for notifying us.

Please grant a print screen of the domain residing in your registrars account and I will make sure to remove the domain for you.

What kind of security does DAN.COM use??? I guess anyone can sell a domain without verification??? Why am I on the hook to provide them with proof of ownership??? HEY DAN.COM - SHOULDN'T SRIRAM GOPALAM BE PROVING HIS OWNERSHIP OF THE DOMAIN???

PS Everyone...it is STILL UP FOR SALE!!!!

Just give them the screenshot showing you have ownership, case closed.

maybe a case of previous owner of this domain trying to buy it back from you for some reason? i say this cause his dan listing is pretty old one... certainly older than the time he bought it on sedo from you.

hope you get paid. but imo its just not the case of someone listing on dan after they bought (without paying) from you. so really, all this imo should be more about your sedo sale... and getting paid there... rather than an old dan listing. gl. cheers

Yes, my case will be closed...but as a good person...I would like to warn others so that they are aware that they may be buying a domain on www.dan that does not belong to the seller.
:)

I am super confused why people are defending this turkey...
He paid for the domain with a fake cc...and knows he has a domain for sale that doesn't belong to him.
From SEDO:
Our system recently flagged the payment due to security reasons. Unfortunately we had to refund the buyer´s credit card payment because the buyer has not sent us the verification documents that our credit card institute has requested.

We have created a new only wire payment request and asked the buyer to resend the payment as soon possible otherwise we have to cancel this transaction.

**I am going to state this one more time...for the last time...I am a good person/ I am a mom/and a teacher...I am letting others know what happened so that they are not taken advantaged of. This has nothing to do with me losing a sale on Sedo. I am fine with losing a sale...I am not fine with my domain being used without my permission this way.

Totally agree with you @Verysassyc

that domain shouldn't be up on sale without an ownership verification. HE should prove that he owns the domain and not you.

I found adding my domain to DAN does not need owner verification. I added 4 domains days ago, and I do not need to proof my ownership. I believe on the time of transaction, DAN will do the escrow for it. If if someone else selling my domains on DAN w/o my knowledge, then what will happen is that he/she (the person who is selling) won't be able to complete the transactions.

This is just different story. I won a domain, and I found that the domain was listed (previously) in Afternic. What I had to do is go to Afternic and asking to remove it. Most web that put domains on sales do not check if domains just dropped or change ownership. I won't be bother going to all channels to clean this sale prices. They will fail if they are not the registrar. If it is in the same registrar, then I will try to contact and remove the previous listing.

Not exactly defending. Not enough evidence. Removing incorrect listings of own domains from marketplaces or parking companies is such a routine daily job - so there is no space for emotions. Periodical checks, ownership conflicts, proofs of ownership, dns txt records etc. - it is all as common as monthly renewals. It may well be that there was something fishy with your sale. Maybe not. Only Sedo can find out. They should have no issues contacting DAN (and receiving a response) if indeed something too questionable happened - both marketplaces should be well known to each other. So, just tell Sedo all the things you know, and ask Dan to remove incorrect listing, sending them account screenshot if necessary...

Take it easy :) Incorrect listings do happen. This is life.
But, still -
innocent until proven guilty
- a good rule. So I'd also tag @Sedo , even though they do not visit the forum frequently.

There's just something so wonderful about a man telling a woman to not be emotional and to take it easy...

I agree with that. Here what should be done on technical side. If Epik @Rob Monster has done that, I will give 2 thumbs up! I do not think in NP we need this since most domains that is on sale/auction on NP are on liquid prices.

- On putting domain up in DAN/Afternic/Epik/GoDaddy/etc (marketplace website) if the domain is not from the same registrar (internally they can check ownership), owner has to "proof" it.

- Proofing can be just simple adding record in DNS, or file in web server. Of course adding TXT record does not really proof the user is the owner. It can be admin access. Marketplace website needs to check it. This can be done by script/program. This is how Google does ownership proof on Google Webmaster website.

- Marketplace website will need to monitor it 247 by checking if the record (above) still in place. If the record has gone, they need to drop it from sale. If the domain is expiring, on day one, they need to drop it from sale. I see this is hard to do, or Marketplave website is lazy to do it.

- From registrar stand point, when ownership has changed, they need to try to wipe these records. If there is a TXT pointing to GoDaddy, DAN, Afternic, they need to warn the new owner. Keep it, or remove them all.

Are you for real. This is really disrespectful.

What are you talking about? This is how you bring someone into the conversation, not to mention this post is in the wrong section.
