Now that Sav has failed to renew and transfer the domain name to you for more than a month, the domain name is squarely in the redemption period with about a week left before entering pending delete.

It's not. It's renewed, the status clearly shows that. It's either back in the original registrant's account or somewhere in limbo. The nameservers hint at the latter.

You are wrong.

Sav.com, and other registrars with expired domain auctions, have a system where they automatically show an updated renewed date for domain names they auction.

That period is typically less than a year.
That's why the registration day and month from 2022 is the same registration day and month in 2026.

A renewed domain would not have dates like that.

So that renewal date is temporary. The domain name has NOT been renewed.

Here is the WHOIS of a similar domain that I won at auction I received it immediately after payment

You can check with rdap.org as well.

On that site, check with and without the option "Follow referral to registrar's RDAP record".

Respectfully, I'm not wrong. If the domain was in Redemption Grace Period, it would have been indicated in the Status Field https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/epp-status-codes-2014-06-16-en#redemptionPeriod
And since the domain was registered on May 16th and the maximum Auto-Renew Grace Period is 45 days, it would have been in Redemption Grace Period by now if it wasn't renewed. It's worth to mention that domains enter the Auto-Renew Grace Period automatically and the registrar has to actively cancel the registration if they don't want to renew the domain. Yes, during Auto-Renew Grace Period the domain will show the next-year date temporarily*, but it will change only after non-renewal. If the domain is renewed, it doesn't change. What will change is the Updated Date. Here we have the last update on 30.06.2025, so exactly 45 days after expiration. Today we have 31.07.2025 so the domain would have entered pendingDelete yesterday evening *if* it was not renewed, which would of course also alter the Updated Date.

(*) usually it will only show 2026 in the registry part of whois/rdap but 2025 in the registrar part of whois/rdap, hence Future Sensors' suggestion to compare the two results. I will demonstrate on my own domain that is now in Auto-Renew Grace Period since 30.06:

Registry RDAP:

Domain Name: AIBODYCOUNT.COM
Handle: 2895445098_DOMAIN_COM-VRSN
Creation Date: 2024-06-30T22:05:28Z
Expiration Date: 2026-06-30T22:05:28Z
Updated Date: 2025-07-01T07:36:35Z

Registrar RDAP:

Domain Name: aibodycount.com
Handle: 2895445098_DOMAIN_COM-VRSN
Registrar WHOIS Server: whois.virtualcloudmanager.com
Creation Date: 2024-06-30T22:05:28Z
Expiration Date: 2025-06-30T22:05:28Z
Updated Date: 2025-06-30T23:00:10Z

You can check raw responses from any domain at https://lookup.icann.org/en/lookup (scroll down and unfold the sections named Raw Registry RDAP Response / Raw Registrar RDAP Response). For the above I used the console version of rdap with whois-formatted output for clarity.

Looks like I was wrong about how they handle the days/month in the renewals.

However, all domain auction houses automatically renew the domain names they auction. But the renewal is tentative/temporary. It's not set in stone.

Look up other domain names in auction and the same thing applies. For instance, the domain name kakikong.com is up for expired auction on GoDaddy. Yet the Whois already shows a 2026 expiration date.

My assumption was that there'd be a change in the expiration date once the auction concludes and the renewal becomes permanent. That was a wrong assumption.

So the domain name you won could have been renewed or still maintaining the pre-auction data.

From @pb's explanations, it looks like the domain name has actually been renewed. So, all that's left is for Sav to push it to your account.

That's just how global domains work. When the day comes, the domain enters the auto-renew period and the registry collects the fee. If the registrar wants the fee back, they need to delete (more like un-renew) the domain within 45 days. BTW that's how registrars came up with ad-parking your expired domains and eventually auctioning them, lol. Most ccTLDs don't have this problem.

It's been a month, and I still haven't received the domain. Every time I contact them via chat, they just tell me to wait for a response from support in the ticket.

Ugh. This doesn't bode well for me. I'm in the same boat, but it's only been 2 days. Getting the same runaround as you are.

Wow, this is more of a widespread issue than I thought. Hopefully it means they know this is priority #1 to fix.

Awesome. Thank you so much. That worked like charm.
No idea why we have to jump the hoops though.

There's no 'why' regarding hoop jumping when using Sav.

The reviews online and overall tone of this thread should be an indicator of the (crumbling) company

2-5 weeks of escalating tickets. Just wondering, is that what you think of as being good support?...
