Hello NamePros community! We are creating a single thread where we can share announcements in, talk about product updates, people can ask questions and host a great discussion on all things domains!

When I filed a support ticket they basically put me off for about two months before finally refunding my money with no explanation as to why I didn't get my domains back in my account. It's shameful.
If you have domains at Sav you should keep an extra special eye on them. Check regularly to make sure you even still own the domains you think you own, because you may not.
I've encountered many problems at Sav, but this is on a whole other level of unbelievable.
I renewed 5 domains with Sav in one transaction, which they took full payment for via Paypal. Then I come to find out months later that they went ahead and auctioned two of the domains off as if they were never renewed (I suspect they actually auctioned all 5 but the 3 lesser quality names went unsold).

My guess is it was just some kind of glitch that never updated in the system as renewed since the names were expired (but well within the grace period by weeks)That surely is disconcerting. Perhaps it had something to do with Paypal? I always use a cc. @Nick R - any chance you know why this would occur?
That 'glitch' has been reported several times. It seems an ongoing fault, not a one-off glitch. Very concerning indeed. My guess is it was just some kind of glitch that never updated in the system as renewed since the names were expired (but well within the grace period by weeks)
I doubt it was done on purpose or if it was about keeping auction money. The domainer that got the names is a much larger client than I am and I'm guessing they'd rather avoid angering that customer than do what is right.

happened to me too... but not since last reports. so I'm giving sav last chance to fix that bug. I also lost a name and got refunded.
they say they fixed the root of it. for me its last chance. there are no registrars on earth where we lose names n tis way. it is the most serious of all bugs.
Did you use Paypal as well?
well ita a big sav bug.
its pointless to talk about payment methods cause it might make this look like cc or paypal bug. when it's a sav bug. while using whatever method or methods. it doesnt matter what method used.
It matters quite a lot. Does it happen for all payment methods or just some? If it happens on just some, we can avoid those payment methods so we can lessen the likelihood of it happening (while awaiting a fix for the bug). If it happens on all payment methods we can transfer names coming up for renewal away from Sav instead of risking non-renewal until the bug is fixed.
it's about sav fixing bugs not clients trying to find ways to avoid their bugs. is what I meant.
either way we have no idea what causes what. that's for them to find out. plus it hasn't happened since last time so I hope they got the msg better late than never
Obviously we all want Sav to fix their bugs. 100%!
Now in the interim, while we all await them to fix their bugs, perhaps you can help us not have the issue you had. You may have information that may assist. What do you gain by withholding it? Was your payment via Paypal or cc? This info could be potentially helpful - or it may not. Until you answer the question, we can't know. Meanwhile, Sav needs to get onto fixing these bugs! Perhaps you sharing this info even helps them identify what exactly, is causing the problem.
me I pay cc but it means nothing and u need info from all affected people to draw some conclusion which u will never get cause u dont even know how many were affected lol
plz dont become detective for living lol just let sav fix bugs they dont need to read your investigation here cause they got all payment methods on file for every affected renewal problem
just relax and have some whiskey.
But do they get renewed? Or do they go to auction because Sav's system failed to renew? This can occur (and often did toward the end of Epik's existence) if the Registrar doesn't have adequate funds on deposit with Verisign. There could obviously also be other instances where the registrar doesn't communicate the request correctly to Verisign. Ascertaining whether indeed those domains are being renewed successfully would be critical in working out where the issue lies. I haven't noticed the problem as I've only left a few domains with Sav as the risk is way too high in my opinion. But I seem to recall that others have specifically mentioned that they have had domains that were not renewed even though they paid for them, and the domain dropped and they had to prove they'd paid for renewal and then get Sav to reinstate it. IF that's the case it would seem to indicate that there are at least some instances where the domain wasn't actually renewed...I don't believe it is a problem with payment methods. They received payment and the domains were actually renewed, it's just something doesn't get updated after that renewal to let their system know, and then they are auctioned.
I pay for SAV domains via PayPal. No major issues thus far (I've been using them for a few years, with 600 domains registered).me I pay cc but it means nothing and u need info from all affected people to draw some conclusion which u will never get cause u dont even know how many were affected lol

Just my 2 cents.
I believe this is an original problem Sav is facing that is not related to Epik's unethical business failures. But do they get renewed? Or do they go to auction because Sav's system failed to renew? I have another question to people who experienced the above: has it always happened with domains renewed past their expiration date? Has it ever happened with a domain renewed prior to expiration date?
