Hi Folks, and thanks very much for the input. Did any of you here actually sign in and look around before you made comment? As I dont recognize even one of the names here as any of the current members? There is much more to the system than just the aestetics so as much as I hear your views on the look, how about the functions?
Anway, the template structure is a ning thing and will be tweaked and changed as time goes. No problems there. Same for the header logo. The template based system works much like myspace where users get to have their own templates as well.
Our first goal was to make sure we could replace the parked site and maintain the revenue stream from the type-in traffic with google. That seemed to be pretty straight forward and already after a week google is exceeding and amazon is rocking.
The focus is general interest and broad. There is no particular niche we are pursuing at this time. The groups and ultimately channels will be used to defined the various niches.

For many reasons...
1. I cannot even access the site (Social Netowks to include ning are blocked at many offices) Probably a good portion of the world is unable to access this.
2. Ning is nothing special.
3. Social networks are oversaturated. (there are always exceptions but this is not the case)
4. It would be better to actually do something unique and stand out.
5. Pointing the domain to ning is NOT helping you build up your own name and backlinks to your name. You are helping ning get bigger and Rex get smaller. Failed SEO.
Rex.com is capable of so much more than this. I can think of tons of ideas that would have you making a massive income in no time from the type in traffic alone, let alone the hundreds of thousands of visits from search engines. Ning is not one of them.
I was just being brutally honest. Hope it helps. You have so much more potential than just ning.... so much more!

2. We like ning, are members of many ning communities. granted that might change in the future, but so far we see no major problems with it.
3. I agree to a certain extent. we have our own ideas moving forward of how to be different. We're only a week old, life is a long process.

6. Name two ideas out of your tons please, we would be interested to know them. The majority of our type-in traffic comes to shop and seems to be doing so. So what is it you would do with the domain to make your massive income?
