One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that many companies using .io, .ai, .co, and even lesser-known ccTLDs still want the matching .com even before the business becomes more serious or international.

People sometimes assume a company on a local extension doesn’t care about the .com. That’s not always true.

Back in 2025, before I launched DotOutbound publicly, I used the tool privately for outbound and made my first sale to an Australian company using a .com.au domain. The domain was IgniteAndWrite(.)com.

To be honest, when I first saw on Linkedin the company was australian and local, I almost ignored it. I assumed it was probably just a local project and that the .com wouldn’t matter much to them.

I was wrong.

The company actually wanted the .com because their vision was bigger than just Australia, and I ended up selling the domain to them on an installment plan for $1,500 USD.

That experience changed how I look at outbound.

A lot of domainers focus too much on which extensions are taken. But in reality, many businesses using alternative extensions still aspire to own the .com eventually, especially when they deal with international clients, branding, credibility, or expansion.

That’s also one of the reasons DotOutbound does not focus on showing “taken TLDs” as a core metric. I care more about whether real companies exist, whether they are active, and whether they could realistically benefit from owning the .com.

Sometimes the buyer is exactly the company you almost skipped.

I forgot to add: in my sales, "the year" begins in June and ends in May.

Here is the sales report for the past year:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/my-domain-name-sales-for-the-last-12-months.1353901/

Just noticed!
I forgot to add one domain to the list:

Voucher . Money $800 USD. (Dan)

I added a screenshot but forgot to add the domain to the list.

So, exactly 30 domains were sold! :)

I will prepare and post the new sales report covering the last 12 months at the end of this month or in early June.

I sold LaserWrap(.)com in October 2024, thanks to the early DotOutbound.com system, which was still very rudimentary at the time before I started to code the website which is now being improved everyday. I knew absolutely nothing about the niche "Laser Wrap", but DotOutbound detected strong signals anyway. I trusted the data.

The niche turned out to be extremely valuable: wearable low-level laser therapy (LLLT) systems for dogs, horses, and even humans. These are premium rehabilitation and pain-relief products used for inflammation, injuries, arthritis, mobility recovery, muscle recovery, circulation improvement, post-surgery rehab, and performance optimization in animals. Some systems sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

It was clearly a very hot domain:

  • multiple TLDs developed,
  • real commercial leads,
  • high-ticket products,
  • serious companies already operating in the space,
  • and strong outbound potential.
DotOutbound focuses on detecting TLDs that are actually developed into real websites as well as related domains genuinely developed and used by active businesses and companies, , excluding those which are not developed.

That is a much stronger commercial signal than simple registrations.

I won the domain on DropCatch for $325.00 and sold it thanks to outbound, less than one month later, through Afternic for $3,499.00 (more than a 10x return)
