I had this modest sale last week..
C O N N E C T O R S .cc
$545 USD
BIN
(no negotiation) Inbound
Hold time: 16 months
Dynadot Marketplace
10% commission (email shows net to me) - 2% bonus if uses for Dynadot services
Sale is listed in NameBio with my MemorableCC as the sales venue.
Rationale: Literal electrical connectors market is substantial, or use as metaphor for connecting people and services. Service/product match names don't in general sell well in .cc though, from my experience.
Notes: I repriced a bunch of names in October, including this one, decreased. Name was also listed at Afternic, Sedo. I had Dynadot price $50 less to reflect lower commission.

Happy New Year, everyone! Hereโ€™s to a fantastic 2025 for us all.

Looking back, 2024 was a tough one for me. โ€™23 was brutal in some ways, โ€˜24 basically said, โ€œHold my beer,โ€ lol.

On the domaining front, I had a few sales. Nothing impressive, but I want to share some of them below, along with a few details. Iโ€™ve learnt so much from the sales and experiences others have shared, and I hope the following might be helpful to someone too.

Domain: G/r/a/p/h/R/A/G [.com]

SP: $7,995
SV: DAN --- 15% commission
NS: DAN
LT: BIN + MAO
ST: Inbound --- Negotiation
CP: $6.99 --- Handreg
HT: 6 months + 18 days

PS: RAG = Retrieval Augmented Generation.

Probably not a good idea to go reg a bunch of random RAG domains or grab the above name in alt extensions. RAG is still in the news, but itโ€™s not exactly new. Itโ€™s mostly seen as a technical method, unlike GPT or GenAI or AIโ€ฆ Demand for RAG domains seems pretty low, and its time in the sun might soon pass.

Could be a good idea to still keep an eye on the RAG space for breakthroughs and high-potential terms (e.g. AgenticRAG*) or shifts in focus that could drive domain demand.

AgenticRAG*: Not mine. Thought too long about registering it. Someone smarter acted.

Domain: Juvivo [.com]

SP: $3,995
SV: Afternic --- 15% commission
NS: DAN
LT: BIN
ST: Inbound
CP: $19.18 --- Handreg (reg + 1 renewal)
HT: 14 months + 3 days

PS: Pointed to DAN and sold via Afternic, but Atom deserves some credit here.

Juvivo was one of my Atom contest submissions. The contest holder rejected it, but I had a very strong feeling about this name (as I did with 2 of my previously reported sales: Majestay .com and ZeeAesthetics .com) and couldnโ€™t shake it, so I registered it. Submitted it to Atomโ€™s premium marketplace months later, and it was also rejected.

Without that contest, I probably wouldnโ€™t have thought of this name. Thanks, @Atom.com

Domain: E/d/i/t/G/P/T [.com]

SP: $1,500
SV: DAN --- 15% commission
NS: DAN
LT: BIN + MAO
ST: Inbound --- Negotiation
CP: $19.18 --- Handreg (reg + 1 renewal)
HT: 17 months + 20 days

PS: This was a โ€œlife will teach youโ€ sale.

Early Dec. 2023: The domain was listed for $8,499 at DAN, BIN only. DAN Support informed me that a buyer (Buyer A) wanted to purchase the domain in 8 installments. I declined, saying I wasnโ€™t a fan of LTOs, insisted on a spread of 3 months at most, and gave a daft spiel about an imminent price increase. Buyer walked.

Jan. 2024: Switched to BIN + MAO. Received lowball offers from Buyer B (the logical end user for this name, likely the same person as Buyer A) and others. I declined but left MAO in place.

FF to Jun. 2024: Annus Horribilis in full swingโ€”Iโ€™m getting cooked on ALL fronts. Struggling with renewals, losing domains in droves, spread thin. I fold and reach out to Buyer B with a $1,500 offer... The sale happens.

The $8,499 LTO offer might not have gone through even if Iโ€™d accepted it. Iโ€™ll never know... But if it had, those staggered payments wouldโ€™ve eased my monthly renewal pressures by about a third and reduced domain losses.

Iโ€™m still thankful for the sale. It couldโ€™ve been worseโ€”hubris and stupidity couldโ€™ve left the domain unsold in my portfolio. Plus, $1,500 isnโ€™t bad for a handreg, and the sale did what I needed it to do at the time.

TLDR: Two key lessons: (1.) Donโ€™t trade todayโ€™s sensible offer for tomorrowโ€™s uncertain promise, (2.) LTOs arenโ€™t right for every name, but they can be great for cash flow.

Domain: RwaChain [.org]

SP: $1,499
SV: Afternic --- 15% commission
NS: DAN
LT: BIN
ST: Inbound
CP: $19.49 --- Handreg (reg + 1 renewal)
HT: 16 months + 3 days

PS: RWA = Real World Assets.

Iโ€™ve dropped some RWA names over time, but I still have many in my portfolio.

We might see some significant RWA domain sales in 2025. *Fingers cautiously crossed*

For any new domainer looking to hop on the โ€œRWAโ€ train: Follow the conversation closely, but donโ€™t get too caught up in the noise and hype. See the โ€œNFTโ€ train for reference.

Domain: TidyPoint [.com]

SP: $1,788
SV: Sedo MLS (Tucows) --- 20% commission
NS: DAN
LT: BIN
ST: Inbound
CP: $48.76 --- Atom wholesale purchase ($39) + 1 renewal
HT: 13 months + 11 days

PS: First secondary domain sale. First Sedo sale.

Used to have a small portfolio of 170+ โ€œpremium listingsโ€ at Atom but pulled them in Feb. 2024 or so. The one downside? Losing access to their wholesale marketplace.

TidyPoint was one of the 65+ domains I purchased there. Initially listed in the $2k+ range while at Atom but later dropped the price and moved it to DAN*. A few months later, I added a small fraction of my names to Sedo, and this was one of them.

DAN*: In the days leading up to this sale, I noticed repeated visits to the domain at DAN, but the sale didnโ€™t happen there. Hopefully, it wasnโ€™t due to a checkout issue. DAN was pretty buggy at the time.

Domain: UFOGPT [.com]

SP: $900
SV: DAN --- 15% commission
NS: DAN
LT: BIN
ST: Inbound
CP: $18.94 --- Handreg (reg + 1 renewal)
HT: 18 months + 7 days

PS: My last DAN sale. Despite its issues, I miss that platform. Terribly.

This was a small yet perfectly timed saleโ€”my most striking โ€œanswered-prayerโ€ experience in domaining to date.

Could this domain have sold for more later, say during the โ€˜UFOs in New Jerseyโ€™ drama? Perhaps. But Iโ€™m glad it sold when it did. Went toward a good cause.

Domain: Web3Focus [.com]

SP: $750
SV: Afternic --- 25% commission
NS: Atom --- Standard listing
LT: BIN
ST: Inbound --- Hat trick
CP: $28.01 --- Handreg (reg + 2 renewals)
HT: 33 months + 27 days

PS: This sale plus the next two (Web3is. com and Web3is. xyz) = a hat-trick of sales that all happened on the same day. Woke up to the first two, and the third came in 2 hours later. FT of the third failed, and the manual transfer also got held up by Afternic. Changed the NS to Afternic during the hold-up, but I still got hit with a 25% commission.

All three FT sales came via NameCheap.

RE: โ€œWeb3โ€ keyword domains: Sold only 5 so far. Dropped some, still have about 10 to go. Look forward to owning ZERO of them.

SP: $988
SV: Afternic --- 25% commission

HT: 31 months + 23 days

Domain: ClimeFi [.com]

SP: $1,500
SV: Afternic --- 25% commission
NS: Atom --- Standard listing
LT: BIN
ST: Inbound
CP: $19.87 --- Handreg (reg + 1 renewal)
HT: 22 months + 4 days

PS: Another name inspired by an Atom contest.

This name was also rejected by the Contest Holder, but Iโ€™m not sure if I submitted it to Atom as a โ€œpremiumโ€ listing after registering it.

Same as before, followed a strong nudge and also registered a close variation that came to mind: Climefy .com* (this one was submitted to Atom and rejected).

Climefy .com*: Sadly, this was one of many domains I wasnโ€™t able to renew in 2024. A company apparently picked it up shortly after I dropped it. Perhaps I wouldโ€™ve sold it to them if Iโ€™d been able to keep it. Le sigh!

Domain: FracAi [.com]

SP: $1,495
SV: Afternic --- 30% commission
NS: Atom --- Standard listing
LT: BIN
ST: Inbound
CP: $18.88 --- Handreg (reg + 1 renewal)
HT: 20 months + 15 days

PS: Turned on โ€œAfternic Boostโ€ to experiment and got hit with 30% commission. I donโ€™t think Boost had anything to do with this sale.

Canโ€™t remember what inspired this name. Couldโ€™ve been Atom. Registered and submitted it to Atom, but it was rejected.

RE: Atom: Iโ€™ve sold exactly ZERO domains through Atom, and there are aspects of the platform I dislike. But Iโ€™m incredibly thankful for it, for many reasons.

2024 Overview:

Total number of sales: 16 sales --- slightly higher than 2023
Total value of sales: $28,471 --- significantly lower than 2023
Average SP: $1,779
Average CP: $18.46
Lowest sale: $100
Highest sale: $7,995
TLDs sold: .com (13), .xyz (2), .org (1)
Top SV (total no. of sales): Afternic --- 10 out of 16 sales
Top SV (total dollar value): Afternic
Top SV (stress level): Afternic, by miles. --- @GoDaddy, PLEASE!
Losses & Lessons: Many.

If Iโ€™d accepted the low 5-figure offers I received on two trend domains and not fumbled a few other things, 24โ€™s numbers wouldโ€™ve been much better than 23โ€™s... Still very grateful for what I got.

2025 View:

Top Priority: Better management of my portfolio and myself (been too angry and too stressed).
Top Mines: Iโ€™ll be mining the news a little, but Iโ€™ll be diving deep into Auctions and Closeouts (if I can afford to).
Top Wishes: Good HEALTH. Big sales. More wins.

Thank You, God. Thank you, everyone.

Because of my recent sales drought at Afternic, I decided to list all of my domains with BIN prices on Sedo. Lo and behold! It didn't take more than a month or two to make my first ever sale on Sedo. Hallelujah!

Domain: Lets// Nest .[com]
Sale price: $2988 (BIN), Sedo
Purchase price: $50 GoDaddy closeout
Hold time: 2 years

This sale made me curious enough to make a little experiment. I decided to list my .com domains with BIN prices on Atom to see if even more sales can come when I broaden market exposure even more. Previously, I've focused almost entirely on Afternic. Landers are still with Afternic though, so the Atom listings are standard listings.

Another change I've made is getting rid of Price Request landers and only use BIN landers. The reason being the disappointing behavior of some Afternic brokers; one in particular.
