I have tried two times to transfer a domain to RegisterFly. Both times it failed. Now when I goto try it againit says to check the domain and try again. I put in a support request with RegisterFly and finally got a reply from then that the domain was transfered and that its in my account and is good until 2007.

BUT I do not see it in my account and when I do a WHOIS on the domain it still shows as it being at the old register.

Another problem I am having is that today RegisterFly sent out a special for $3.75 domain transfers. Well I tried to transfer 3 domains to them. When I put the code in the promo box it tells me it found it and had updated my prices, WRONG! They still show $6.99. :(

I use to love NameCheap BUT they only offer WHOIS protection free for one year. I moved to RegisterFly for most of my domains because of the free for life WHOIS protection and discounts they are always offering. :(

Now when I try the Promo code I get a page saying "Unable to connect".

LOL Now this is funny. I got the email about the $3.75 transfers today at 3:06 AM. I tried it and it said found it and updated the prices. But it didnt. Support answered my request and said the special is over. How? If it was sent at 3:06 am and its only 12 hours later..... it has not been 24 hours...

Same error I had on one of my transfers this AM. Transfered 6 @ the $3.75 special, but had the one problem; the only name at Domainsite.

I think this comment isn't exactly fair. RF isn't as bad as many claim it is.

Until recently, both registerfly and namecheap were Enom resellers. Registerfly has recently become a full registrar, but many of the domains their are still actually at enom. If you try to renew an enom based name at RF within a couple days of expiration, it renews with the enom reseller account instead of RF as the ICANN registrar. If this were the case, you would actually be transferring from enom to enom, but just switching reseller accounts. I wouldn't doubt that this could be part of the problem. Most recent problems at RF have been related to this transition.

Well, ... either that or the generally buggy and half working scripts at registerfly. ;)

I don't recommend using RF until they get things under control, and it doesn't look like that is going to be any time soon.

Just a couple of days ago, a handful of my domains were showing as if they expired in May. These names had been renewed until 07 and I had the receipt for it. I immediately contacted Tech Support, my account rep at Reg Fly and a nameserver member who is from Regfly...

The problem was resolved ....but it put through the hassles which I did not need...

If I had not checked up on my account, would not have caught this error. I would have lost those names for sure....

Again, their site is full of bugs and the story is I have to keep a close watch on my account....Still issues such as BULK WHOIS UPDATES, BULK FORWARDING don't work on their site...

I, too, received received multiple "domain registration has failed" notices today. Called tech support, waited around 8 minutes and was told their registration sytem was "down"....to try again tonight or in the morning.

At the same time, several transfers worked without a hitch.

I had the same failed error message as well with a few transfer requests, I also noticed I received confirmation emails saying the amount was billed to my CC, twice for the same name transfer request. Watch for double billing...

Huh.. I was thinking of transfering my domain to registerfly soon but after reading this, I'll have to think about it again.
Too many domain transfer maybe?

My control panel currently says I have 754 domains there. It also says I have 41 expired domains. The "expired" ones all were transferred to other registrars in May. As of sometime in May, I actually had about 725 domains there. I've transferred about 300 away in the last 45 days, and the count has not changed one bit. I asked tech support to clean up my account of names not at RF, but they just ignored the request.

If you keep names at RF, you better not rely on their control panel to keep track of them.

No, Paul referred me to my accout rep, Luci. She called me at home which I missed, but my returned calls only got voicemail with no return calls. Everything I emailed her went unanswered, however, she (or someone) did fix a pricing issue on my account and got some questionable charges credited in the amout of about $25.

I still have hundreds of names there with incorrect whois, their bulk change scripts still don't work, and they refuse to fix the incorrect whois for me (which shows their own name as all contacts) . In addition to the bad control panel data mentioned above.

I decided I've had enough, and they are not worth the effort. I've transferred about half my domains there out, and as I tediously fix each whois one-by-one myself, I unlock it or get the auth code at the same time and transfer away. To make things worse, I changed the whois on about 60 domains and initiated the transfer. About half failed, because the whois reverted back to their info again, resulting in more work to redo what I had already done once. In another couple months I will be a former big time customer for them.

At one time I had about 1200 names there. I had started transferring out at one time, and they offered me special pricing to keep them there, so I stopped at about 800 domains. The price was still a little higher than my alternative, but I didn't have to go through the hassle of the transfers. Now, I don't think I would stay even if they gave me $4 renewals.

Theirs is a sad way to do business. :(

I have been waiting 2 months for a refund of $150. Even PMing the RegisterFly member here hasn't got me any closer to a return of my money.

The control panel hasn't been as bad for me as it has for others but I can't get the promo codes to work either. A frustrating experience all round.

Right on! Except, he ain't even riding 3rd class, he's riding in a Ford Pinto with no engine :hehe:

No offense, just sayin' :hi:

Good luck with RF - a registrar that deserves to not be a registrar.

WORDS OF CAUTION...

1. If you need to file a dispute for a chargeback to get your money back, be very careful. I had to do this and RF closed my account and took all the domains in my account from me (which I paid for in full). SO, if you have to do a chargeback, prepare ahead of time. You will need to stop using RF so you need to transfer all your domains out to another registrar first before you issue the chargeback or else RF will take your domains away from you. Make sure your domains are successfully transferred away from RF before you even bother calling your credit card company to issue a chargeback.

1. Domain purchases on a VISA or MC credit card are covered for full 6 months, not just 60 days like other purchases. At least they are with my FirstUSA/Chase credit cards.

The Regfly Protect sevice they provide (replacing your whois with theirs) is unbelievable. It is a frontline battle to get them to change back what you never asked for in the first place. I had the exact same problem and ended up LOSING an important (to me) name. I was trying to transfer it out and they jacked me around until grace ended, then said I would have to buy it out of pending. This was last year and I have not and will never forgive this theft.
I had on another occasion several email requesting changing the account (whois) info back to mine since this could not be accomplished through the control panel although I tried over a dozen times and after several heated demands by me and no action on their part, finally I got the response, "as per your request we have installed regfly protect on all your domains". That took me over the top. After I stopped laughing at the incompetance of the support and how could they have interpeted my request in such a 180 manner my next email was large and red and listed each name to be removed. That worked but I had nothing short of 20 hours total getting this done. I should have sent them a bill.

Paul, I dont envy you your job.

Peace,
Cyberian

Sometimes, the most hilarious and nonsensical approach actually works.

I have had many problems with various registrars (tis the world we are all familiar with), but the worst (well, RegisterFly is the most incompetent) actual problems have been with Godaddy (albeit, they seem to have halfway respectable rep around here - Which, other than their pricing, I can't see why). I have been round-and-round with them for some time, to the point it is now in legal action. But, awhile back I did exactly as you mentioned, and I think it was the only time a GoDaddy staffer ever took me serious, made me laugh, and actually replied back like they were human (versus their often canned responses). I had wasted so much time with them, that I actually did send them a bill  I wrote out a very slowly thought-out letter (They probably figured my lawyer wrote it) stating the time and trouble it was taking me to resolve my issues. I went step-by-step (literally like a bill - line-item by line-item) explaining how much time it took me going to their site (for my accounts) trying to fix the issues, reading emails, phone calls (They had called me, but I had to pay for it, since it was to my 1-800#...So, I billed them the per-minute charge on that too :hehe: ). I then explain how much I make an our, how valuable my time was (I have other things to do rather than spend my time fixing "their" mistakes.), and gave them a sum-total of how much of my own money (outgoing expenses) I had spent. Added this all up, and gave them the basic "If I have to take this to court, I will addionally be seeking damages for the amounts inclosed herein, billable at my normal hourly rate...and for the outgoing expenses henceforth mentioned". I then explained that, while I still felt I was due this money (as it was my time and money spent fixing "their mistakes"), that I would forgive the bill, if they fixed things right ASAP.

They didn't fix things, so I am in a fight for the long haul. But, the fact that things are not fixed, definately is not the fault of the GoDaddy employee who read and replied to that correspondence. Based off her reply, had she been in control, I'd be A-OK with them now and have GoDaddy "in my back pocket" so-to-speak.

Cyberian's idea of sending them a bill didn't work in my case with GoDaddy, but you never know. It got one person's attention fast, and it got her kissing-up like I was Bob Parsons himself. If you have much experience dealing in civil lawsuits, you are well aware that this tactic is often employed by lawyers themselves. The recipient, seeing that you not only will actually seek for lost time and expenses (on top of the original damages you are going after), plus the fact that you are documenting every detail for future court action if need be, really can get them to start taking you serious.

Yea buddy!!!!! I have an exec acct with them, (GoDaddy) so any problem is only a call to my account manager away from being resolved for me. But the system over there does run into difficulties on occasion, and I remember I sent them a email stating that if they were too busy or overworked to address my problem, I would gladly lighten the workload a little.
Next morning I got a phone call from the office of the president and within an hour all was right as rain.

Bob says he reads his mail. Send the bill to [email protected]

Another option:
I wonder if his live radio show has a delay loop.... :hehe:
I am a firm believer in going straight to the top whenever possible.

Bob doesn't like me, personally :td: But, then again, I have since given him a reason not to 8-X But, yes, usually I'd advice to go straight to the top. I sent copies of alot of my correspondences to several of Bob's own addies (including jomax.net, which he personally owns and uses for his contacts for the godaddy.com and bobparsons.com domains). The replies (which I will try to remember to post later...can't now, lawyer says, do to pending actions) gave me even less respect for the man and the little "minions" who sometimes answer in his place. The phrase "arrogant pompous ass" comes to mind.

I never (atleast that I recall) said that I didn't think that folks should use Godaddy. I have even had domains in there since all of this happened, which now other NPers have - I was "cleaning myself "free" of Godaddy. I just would like folks to note that Godaddy thinks itself more powerful than they are. If they ever accuse you of fraud or the like, the game is on, rather they can prove it or not. They won't admit being wrong (atleast in alot of cases), even when the proof stares them in the face. Good prices, decent services. But fraud and legal departments need an overhaul like the engine of a Model-T that has sit for years with the hood up, outside the garage (outdoors).

I have done just that...Now maybe they have more time to deal with other users' issues, since my accounts are all empty :yell:
