I'm interested in buying developed websites, but I'm not 100% clear on how the transfer is made.

Here's what I've gathered so far:
1: buyer sends the money
2: seller sends a .zip file (or something similar) containing the website.

What I'm not clear on is how the domain name gets sent over to me. I own several domains, but I've never transferred them before. Does the seller just do some stuff (I don't need to know the details) and then I can add by going into the Addon Domains in cPanel, or is there something else I have to do?

Thanks for the help :)

It's usually easy to "push" a domain to another user at the same registrar. For example, if you and I have namecheap accounts I can easily push a domain to you. If you later choose to move it to another registrar that is also easy to do. You can set up hosting for the website on your hosting account using the files the seller sent you and then switch the DNS. Sellers typically give you a week or two to get this set up before they take down the site.

It depends on negotiation with both parties. Usually, these are the common steps for concluding the sale.

1. Buyer sends payment after confirming ownership. (Confirmation might not apply to some old trustworthy members or with a higher + ratings)
2. Seller transfer the domain
3. Seller may opt to move the entire site to the buyer's hosting or just only send the .rar files and let the new owner move by himself.
4. And lastly, assist the new owner if there are any problems. :)

Best of Luck
