Hey I need some advice on how to re-open a contact. To give some reference, this is what happened several months ago - https://www.namepros.com/threads/need-advice-from-some-pros-asap.946984/

I contacted a business owner with a name that I honestly don't think anyone in the world could use except him, and he showed interest. I asked y'all for some help, and in short, the negotiation got bungled. Now, I registered the name for $.99, and renewed the domain for $10. So, literally $20 would be OK with me because like I said, I don't think anyone else could take value from this name. I was even thinking just transferring him the name in the act of kindness (like a good Buddhist..lol)...

TLDR recap: I'd never done this before, and this was the only interest I'd ever received via an outbound inquiry. So I asked you guys to help.
Him: "how much?"
Me: "I'm receiving x,xxx offers." (advice received from one of you who later admitted they don't do outbound sales...smh!)
Him: "WTF is x,xxx? That's a big range. Are you crazy??? Now if you said 1k to 2k, we'd have something to talk about."
Me: "$2500."
Him: "Not interested."
Me: "Ok, best wishes!"

Yes, I clearly mishandled this. Please don't tell me how I should've handled this better. I already know. So now that it's been almost 6 months, I want to see if there's still a possibility to unload this domain. Since he had expressed that "1k to 2k is something to talk about", that range is definitely attractive for an $11 domain....

So how would anyone here approach a re-opening like this?

Or should I just wait?

Wait another 6 months? A year?

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

If $20 would be ok with you, I'd list it for $500 at a marketplace and send him the link.. because it didn't go over so well the first time, you may lose the sale by listing it at $1k or $2k... but will have a chance if you list it for $500. Just my opinion. Go with your own gut feelings instead of anyone else's.

That's an idea. But I liked the informal tone of our first interaction and I think it'd be offputting to him to go to a marketplace. Also, a marketplace would ask for a commission which would be better if I didn't have to pay anyone else.

Though at this point, I'd probably pay for the commission of a skilled broker....!
