How am I doing after 15 months?

First of all I wanted to post this in appraisal forum. But posted it here as the domain name is required in the title. So, moderators, if you think that it is better to move this thread to appraisals section, please do so.

I have been on namepros for 15 months now which is when I started. And my only source of knowledge is namepros. After 15 months my portfolio as of today looks like below.

I have sold a few names in the mean time. If I consider my sale profits then the cost of acquiring above portfolio stands around 1700$ (cost of acquiring all names - profits through sales). So, how do you think I am doing?

That was not too bad I guess....Where do you sell your domain at and are all these domains parked? Do you develop some of them?

I am still learning about this biz and it seem like a very niche and profitable market....

Those domains can be made into great sites. I mean all three together can make 500 + a day.

I personally really like that portfolio and think it really speaks to the teaching power of NamePros. I think you can definitely develop a few of those domain names and make a serious profit for yourself.

Are you developing the .TV's or planning to re-sell?
You could easily pick up some more .Com to strengthen your good start.

I am planning to sell them if a buyer comes through within a year. If not, will develop.

Thanks for posting this question and giving us a chance to learn more also. I have about 1,400 domains, but that does not mean I am an expert.

In my limited opinion you seem to have some very good names and some I don't think much of. Maybe I just don't understand domains like FabGene.com and that is the nice thing where each person's own knowledge and experience can give them an edge over others. :)

But from a business stand point it looks like you have spent something close to $2,000 for the domains. You have sold some and so your cost is $1,700. At this point you have lost $1,700 in your business. You still have the potential to sell more or develop some domains so that they generate income, but you have to make $1,700 just to "break even". While one nice domain sale could bring that in, it may not be realistic.

Now someone said that 3 of your domains were very good and could make "...make 500 + a day.", but that may or may not be true. That kind of statement with nothing to back it up should not be taken serious since it may only excourage you to buy more domains in the hope that they too will be seen as valuable, while actual income and buyers are currently non-existant. Domains have potential, but so does a lottery ticket.

So I can't argue with most of the feedback you are getting, but just want to caution you going forward. Your yearly renewal fees at this point for the 31 domains is not too great, perhaps $500? But how many sales can you expect and how will your domains earn money while you wait for buyers? If you don't sell or park your domains, next year your total cost will be about $2,100. As you may be able to tell, my annual renewal fees are about $11,000 and I don't sell many domains. It's from parking that I am able to cover most of my costs.

If you had said your cost was $0 and not $1,700 I would have been seriously impressed, but I am not sure of the potential for the domains you have. When thinking about the potential profits, also keep in mind the reality of actual profit and loss for your domain business and I think it will be helpful in making future decisions. :)

I do agree with 'nielsencl'
Usually webmaster try to book multiple domains in greed and think that they will get huge returns but it doesn't work always.
There are many factors which are to be considered before booking domains. Try to research market, searches for that particular niche etc...

Got some pretty good ones in there, how about looking for a nice .com score. Save up a bit and get a real gem, would be my advice.

Kindly do share how one could make enough money from parking without having to do heavy blogging and optimization. This info will be useful in the spirit of learning for newbies. We used to have over 200 domains that we have been trimming (letting them expire) and we are now down to just around 100. Parking is not making money. Some, like Godaddy even wants you to pay them money if you want to do cash parking. The free ones like sedo, at least for us, are not profitting us. Adsense - virtually no show. Of course we have not really implemented any optimization, we just parked just like the ads say "make money, tons of money parking your domains..."

i am not an expert yet in the industry.
mahesh13, just my openion, what if you try mini sites for your .tv's?
try noomle. put some tv channels that relevant to your tv names.
should be able to cover the renewal costs.

last week i just parked most of my domains there and waiting google to index them. still not have big contnents trhough.
