I am in the midst of my first Sedo sale...I got an offer and accepted it. On the Sedo page it says I will be contacted soon with details on how to complete the domain transfer.

I am wondering, how long does this process take? How long does the buyer have to send payment? Anything helpful I should know as a seller?

Thanks!

Angela

Hello Angela. :)

Both parties have now confirmed their details and the sale of <name here> can now proceed. A payment request has been placed in the buyer's user account and an email has been sent to him asking him to make payment for this domain as soon as possible. We ask buyers to make payment within 10 working days.

Should the buyer not make payment within the first 7 days and automatic reminder will be sent to him, and your transfer agent will also make every attempt, both via email and telephonically, to contact the buyer in order to ascertain when payment will be made. Once we have confirmation that the payment has been received and processed we shall then contact you.

That's the way it's supposed to go, once the buyer has confirmed.

Keep in mind, things don't always go the way they are supposed to. ;)

sedo has worked nice for me and payments are paypaled, did take about 4-6 weeks though on my last one, depends how quick the buyer pays, no complaints on my end except for the speed, wish they would speed it up a little or throw a little pressure on buyers to pay quicker

It can range quite a bit of time actually from the start of the transaction to the end. I've had some wrap up in a few days, have had others that took a month or so to work out. Depends on how fast the buyer is. Sedo is very good at working for both parties to get it worked out. However, keep in mind that they do not work on the weekend and if you are in the US, the contact is generally 5 hours ahead, which makes it a bit difficult when his 9 to 5 is your 4 to 12n (east coast). I think the shortest I've had is 4-5 days.

Times can really vary, just sold one there .... 4 days from accepting the offer to the money turning up in my PayPal.

In about 4 years of dealing with them I think the longest I had to wait was just under 2 weeks ... But that was the buyers delay not Sedo.

All the best.

When I made my sale, it took two months to complete the offer. It only took a few days for the buyer to pay Sedo, but I had a lot of trouble with the transfer. Make sure your domain is unlocked and ready to be transfered and it will be a painless process.

Now it depends on how fast the buyer makes payment.
If it is bank transfer it could add a few days to the process.
Then Sedo will ask you to push the name to their account or the client account. If a transfer to another registrar is involved then it will take some more time.
My 2 last sales with Sedo were completed in less than a week (I pushed the names to the Sedo account with same registrar). Last time the proceeds of the sale were paypaled to me less than 2 hours after I pushed the name :)

This is very true. The faster the buyer pays, the faster the transaction goes. For the last domain I sold thru Sedo, I got my check within about a week.

If seller doest step back, it should be ready for transfer in max 2 weeks (as average)

For me it took usually 1week -2weeksto get payments when buyer paying.
The problem is that some of the buyers vanished without paying , even they accepted the price.
Hope everything will go great for you.

And unfortunately Sedo does NOTHING support you in those cases ;(
Lots of "TOS", Agreements & Commisions, but on bottom line you are left alone.

Hopefully you will get your $ soon ;)
