Hi NamePros community!
I'm a newbie at domain names....I've read quite alot of threads.....but
still have questions.

I'm trying to see where the profit comes in........if you purchase a domain to sell and then register it.......(which doesn't seem cheap)..........then only sell the domain for $5....... where is the profit?.... (is it in purely the "volume" that you sell?)...........
Also...........if you come up with some good names (whether you create or buy them)...........do you have to register it with all the ".com; .biz; .net, etc.?)

Thanks for any help for this newbie!

Hey there CK7 :D Welcome to Namepros!

The profit comes from buying domains and then reselling them at a higher price either to fellow domainers and end users (i.e. business area). Hopefully you can resell the domains you purchase for a higher profit than what you paid. So the difference will be your profit. Also stick to investing in .com at first. .Com is the most safest option when starting out to make sales with.

Thanks!

bizcorp,

Thanks so much for the info...(and the info sites as well).
I think I'll stick to the .com's first!

Also to answer your question - the $5 and under sales you probably see taking place left and right - are those people who had trouble selling their names at what they assumed (or hoped) would be a profit. Rather than letting them drop and losing their entire investment, they'd rather make something rather than nothing back...even if it's less than what they paid.

So be very careful and continue to read up before investing heavily!

the cheap sales you see are usally people dumping the stinkers on others that have fresh ideas and thoughts on how to use them. Its better to get a couple of dollars out of them then just deleting them from your account
