Was curious how some of you felt about this?

Keyword1-Keyword2.com
Keyword1.Keyword2

I can’t decide on which one to use as the primary domain.

It depends on the term. If it is a quality keyword I would probably prefer the hyphenated .COM.

I think there would be less confusion with a hyphen than with a new extension when it comes to branding and marketing. People know .COM = domain. It might be a long time until the majority of people realize some random term with a dot before it is even a domain.

Brad makes a good point, because this is what we do, we might see how an intuitive two word combination with one of the words being the extension, makes sense. But to people outside of domaining, a lot of them think they made a mistake or just add .com and have something like puppy.pics.com.

i like new tlds and if you estimate most of your traffic will be coming from online links (google/fb etc) then people dont need to remember the url...but of course, if you plan on doing offline marketing then yeah, hyphenated .com would be best.

Good answer and I agree, but if both are available, why not grab them both?

That's what gTLD's are about, defensive registrations anyway.
