At what grade did you need to flunk out of school to get a job at Verisign in the premium pricing dept

California.tv $15,000 Dallas.tv $30,000 interesting

3.tv $50,000 5.tv $10,000 should be no difference in price

TVVV.tv $10,000 ??????????????????

Tod.tv $10,000 Quality letter LLL SEN.tv $500

OnlineDirectory.tv $10,000 makes spices.tv at $500 a bargain

P.tv $10,000 Prestamos.tv $25,000 I will just take just the P for $15,000 less

I've noticed for 5 years that Dallas.tv has been priced higher than comparable cities. I'm guessing it was an erroneous error from long ago (never corrected) ... or considered more of a premium because of the famous tv show "Dallas" from the 1970's.

It was $9,000 for years they marked up when Local experts was interested in the domain.

Why CREDIT.TV was $1650 is beyond me. James.TV is 1750 and look through the list in the super premium range, it beats most of those......and should be at least 10k per year based upon the recent online tv drops........

That is something that makes no sense whatsoever. I like ShowBizzes options for the reasons as to why!

James,
Credit.TV was a recent drop. I am sure this has to do with some of the fee structure as Versign may not have been able to adjust it in time.

Thanks,
A

I have to imagine that James.tv should be at least $50K/year. LOL

No kidding, a rag tag pricing policy apparently distorted by legacy issues & work-arounds. The recent big drop of online.tvโ€™s premium names have seriously added to the distortion โ€“ all a result of converting all the original $10 names into a โ€œface-savingโ€ $10,000.

Car.tv ($10,000) Cars.tv ($100,000)
Vacations.tv ($10,000) Vacation.tv ($50,000 โ€“ I think regged by DM)
And the oneโ€™s that should be non-premiums Sports24.tv (10,000), onlinedirectory.tv (10,000) etc. vs those that could be justifiably higher: e.tv, d.tv, p.tv

This is a perfect opportunity for verisign/enom/DM to rationalize their premium pricing and remove the silly distortions, along with a crystal clear statement as to future pricing policies: 1) names registered as non-premium will remain non-premium pricing if continuously registered (regardless of transfer). 2) names registered as premiums may continue to be registered at the original premium price if continuously registered (regardless of transfer). This would clear the air, remove the distortions, further energize the TV namespace, and put to bed the naysayers. CarryOn

I would actually redo the whole thing. My proposal:

All premiums priced over $1000 would be lowered to $500
All premiums priced under $1000 would be lowered to standard reg fee.

People who have paid for a premium would have their registrations extended 10 years for themselves, but upon sale, the 10 year extension would be deleted to year by year for the new owner.

Time the changes to a one day land rush type release with plenty of pre-press to announce the new structure. That would completely eliminate all the confusion and infuse some much needed interest in the extension. Think about what the extension would do if people knew that say August 1st, all the confusion would go away, and the doors would be opened to an entire industry that jumps on the bandwagon.

No. Just a fantasy based on days gone by. Demand/Verisign want a piece of the premium pie. They control the names/regs so they are not going to open the field for others to reap big profits (from getting, say Cars.tv for $500 and selling it two years later for $20K). Why not just price it at $10K and wait for the end-user to come to them. In this example, DM makes $10K instead of $1K and Showbiz makes nothing and continues to fume.

What would you do if you were DM?

In a way it is very realistic. Someone needs to take a proposal like this, polished up, and have a chat with Rosenblatt. Make him see that while they could make money down the road, if they really want the ball rolling as they say, they need to clear up the pricing pronto or .tv will never get the attention it needs.

I wonder if chatwithRosenblatt.tv is available??

I d certainly take care premium pricing before going public.
I d get some feedback and then buid a pricing that is
benefitial for DM and buyers. For now this pricing indicates
that DM dont want resellers to get involved, they are just waiting for end users to come.

This premium pricing is struggling the tv market but could be
the catalyt for making things move faster.
