Everyone,

Attached please find the results of this week's premium registration tracking. As before, L/LL/LLL and N/NN/NNN are not tracked.

I have double-checked the figures because I cannot believe the results that I came up with this week. Either something funny is going on or Verisign just had its greatest week of the year in premium registrations.

A staggering $1.299M in annual registration fees worth of super-premium domains have disappeared this week. As you can see, most of them are TV related ("watch", "real", "cable," etc). This suggests that either a huge investor has entered into the market or Verisign has partnered with someone.

All thoughts and theories welcome.

On the other side, not a single premium name dropped.

Registrations Week of 2/13 to 2/20
watch.tv $500,000

that is fantastic news. I for one would like to see all the premium names sold tomorrow. I can't believe someone beat me to watch.tv. I only had about 473 years left to keep saving! :)

Amazing job once again buddy.

For sure, premiums are being regged and most probably come out as developed sites in no time.

WHOis not updated so far.... by the way I got a nice offer via GreatD. for one of my name which is in line with the above recent high premium registrations, perhaps just a coincidence.

in Whois will be Tv corporation forever (till 2038 :) ) they just hire it-not sold

so I am curious about the new "owners" if it could be deducted somehow

If this is a normal registration and not a partnership of some type, it really is a staggering amount for one week. I couldn't believe it when I first figured it out.

I am pretty sure it is one party because once you get past the mega-names, it otherwise looks like an ordinary .tv premium week.

I do not want to start up the metaphysical discussion of if a registration is a "sale" but I am pretty sure that no tld or cctld other than .com has ever had a week with a Top 10 list like this

1. watch.tv $500,000
2. real.tv $250,000
3. broadcast.tv $100,000
4. cable.tv $100,000
5. comedy.tv $100,000
6. kids.tv $100,000
7. beyond.tv $50,000
8. showbiz.tv $50,000
9. network.tv $30,000
10 your.tv $10,000

(leaving aside that these are ANNUAL registration fees and so every value on that list should be multiplied x 5)

The best thing for us is for all the premium names to be snapped up. They will not resell easily or often given those price levels and the fact that they are almost certainly bought by end-users. That will suddenly make our pretty decent, $35/year names quite appealing to an End-User.

Some of the domains in the first post have updated whois info:
roulette.tv $2,000
balloon.tv $500
getit.tv $500
muslims.tv $500
zine.tv $500

But none of the more expensive ones.
And that's a bit strange since other premium domains in the same range have updated whois info, so it's not correct that the whois info will show TV corp. foverer for all premium .tv...
Men.tv : http://whois.ws/whois-tv/ip-address/men.tv/
Women.tv : http://whois.ws/whois-tv/ip-address/women.tv/
Both of those are believed to cost somewhere in the low $xxx, xxx range/year..

So it's a bit strange that the premium regs. listed in the first post haven't been updated as well...
Another strange thing is that the www.tv whois just shows "not available" for the domains from Forum.tv and up, but "has been registered" for the rest..
forum.tv is not available.

roulette.tv has been registered.
Want to know who registered this address? View the registrant information.

It probably takes a few more days to verify premium regs in the mid $x,xxx range and up...

interesting. I was able to find other domains listed as "not available" that also had an actual registrant. See italy.tv as an example. So I do not know what drives the difference between "not available" and "has been registered"

The other thing I am wondering on, is has the .tv corporation changed its business model somewhat? - > It would be interesting to know what sort of traffic and revenue these premium names have generated while they have been owned and parked by the .tv corporation. Wouldn't surprise me, that if they are earning big bucks from ppc they might decide they would rather have the income for themselves :o :$: :$: and sell for a high +++ price once the extension has matured even more - if that is the case it's certainly a major boost of confidence for/in the extension, at the end of the day verisign get to find out alot of 'premium' insider information before it gets out.

Is there somthing big around the corner for .tv? - would be nice to see a sudden boom !

I get "italy.tv has been registered" and not "not available" when I check the whois for that one??
http://www.tv/en-def-834509640f5e/en/whois.shtml
http://www.tv/en-def-834509640f5e/cgi-bin/lookup.cgi?email=whoissearch&domain=italy&tld=tv&x=26&y=6

But when I check for the other .TVs I mentioned in my post I only get:
"forum.tv is not available."
http://www.tv/en-def-834509640f5e/cgi-bin/lookup.cgi?email=whoissearch&domain=forum&tld=tv&x=0&y=0

So it seems to be something strange with the regs in the mid $x,xxx range and up.
But it could just be that it takes longer to reg premium .tv's in that pricerange, so the whois info isn't updated until the process is 100% complete..

I guess we'll have to check on those the next few days.. :)

watch.tv $500,000
real.tv $250,000 - that's crazy people!~
For example - premium NEWS.TV cost 1 million, but NEWS.NET was sold only for 150.000$

Italy.tv is a 100% normally registered name as it was registered by me. So if you saw "not available", there must be some kind of error in their system. By coincidence I noticed 2 weeks ago already that watch.tv was "not available", I'm afraid these names will be available later on or maybe (hopefully) they wait for payment and have these names on hold?
