Premium english domains registered in non english speaking CCTLD, how do they find end users? It doesn't make sense to me that there is a need for it by end users in those non-english speaking countries.

An example is DataCube.com owned by bmugford is registered in several non-english CCTLDs like .de, .be, .ru, .cz, .fr etc. While will endusers in germany, belgium, russia, czech Republic, france buy the premium english keywords in their cctlds since english is not their official language?

Are there really end users' demand for premium english keywords registered in non- english countries extensions? Or is it domainers blindly registering premium english domains in several extensions including non-english speaking CCTLDs?

I can't seem to comprehend the rationale.

English names make for good brands even in non-English speaking countries. For example home.pl the biggest hosting company in Poland or index.hu the biggest news portal in Hungary. Premium English keywords can sell in most TLDs.

For the example you gave, there will always be investors that think they can maximize for personal gains based on another's sole brand/DN without any real thought on that the term is a non-starter beyond the current usage. Also proper research isn't being done by the buyers by why the DN appears on results. Some points:

1) they may think they could sell to Mugford as an "related domain"
2) Mugford couldn't give two hoots he already owns the dot-com
3) bet non of those are even protective reg's by Brad it would be a complete waste of money

I already own the few extensions I care about outside .COM, mainly .NET/ORG.

If you look at OpenCorporates, there are random companies called "DataCube" in many foreign countries. India, Brazil, Cyprus, France, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Switzerland, etc.

English is still used frequently in many other countries.

However, as an investment those type of domains don't really make sense IMO.

That has happened several times with domains involving the term in some obscure extension.

When you own the .COM, you don't really need anything else.

Premium English words have high value and good sales happening time to time.

We use latin letters in domain names and correct dicrtionary words are clear, looks good and sounds good.

Most of people understand English language and good domain names works good.

It's about .RU extention and .RU market.
