The following rules and guidelines will be in effect on the NamePros forum starting April 1st, 2006.

Sales Thread Limit

There is a limit of one new thread per member, per marketplace forum, per day. You may have two active threads per marketplace forum at any given time.

Rep Points

Our forum has a feature called "rep points". Rep points in its simplest form are a ranking of a members benefit and activity within the forum. Its basis comes from the opinions of all forum members that choose to take part in it.

Users gain and lose rep points on how their posts are scored by other members. Users with the ability to affect reputation, will either give or take away points by approving or disapproving with a post's content. Rep points are also gained or lost from transactions rated using our Trader Rating system.

You're welcome to give rep points to whomever you choose within our system limits, however rep points are not a commodity. You may not publicly offer rep points as a form of compensation, nor should you demand or beg for them. It is acceptable to say "rep points are appreciated", but it should be left to the giver's own judgement. Do not use the rep points system to insult users or as a method of revenge. If a member is breaking a forum rule, please report it using the "Report Post" button in the post.

Fixed Price / Buy-It-Now

If an item is offered with a fixed sales price, the terms of the offer will assumed valid for seven days following the thread starter's most recent post in the thread, unless specified otherwise by the thread starter.

Thank you,

Ron James

At 6 months old my son needed no rules. Now, at 2yrs 8 months :bingo: I make new rules every day.

Interesting...My son and NP are growing up together. :kickass:

A bit dramatic, don't you think?

NamePros has been growing rapidly, and most members already practice common courtesy and use their common sense, so these new rules won't affect them very much, if at all. But we've reached the size where it's necessary to tighten up the slack a little, and this is to help make the community better for EVERYONE.

I am new when it comes to rep points
----<< see.
But what if someone has good rep points and I didn't
have the same "fabulos" experience?...How could I voice
my opinion without starting a war on the member? which is not
what I want to do, however I based what I was doing, on the rep
of the member...
-just done wrong-

if you were trading, you don't use rep. You use trader rating. Rep is for helpful posts only. Hope I helped! (hint, hint :D )

lol :hehe:
yes actually you did, I don't know about the trader rating
this was for some names/threads and such, where the offer was
prenown by both and not met. (nothing about post for np$ or
anything like that)

Oh thank God! Thank you RJ, this is a small solution to the problem but I think it will hopefully even out that forum a little bit.

Regarding the 1-per-day Sales/Marketplace threads, we are not just going to start issuing warning points left and right because a person started 2 of them. It will take a period of time for everybody to get up to speed, and be aware of the new rule. We realize this.

My personal focus are the Domain Sales/Auction/Wanted sections, and I'm giving people friendly reminders and making sure they are aware of the new rule (and the rules in general) whenever I see a problem. I'm also deleting/merging threads etc.

RJ is currently working on a great addition that will display the new rule(s) when somebody goes to post a sale thread, and also one for brand new members posting a sale/marketplace thread for the first time. This will help make sure everyone (old or new) will be up to date.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation and courtesy as we go thru these small growing pains.

:)

Nice work Namepros.com team.

I only would like to ask something about this line:

You may have two active threads per marketplace forum at any given time.

How do you know, if they are still active?
( does this go by time-frame or when it gets archived )
