Am I correct here...
With Sedo, a Marketplace Auction can only begin when someone makes an Offer and then I can decide to push it to Auction
but
With Afternic, I can plan my own Auction, starting Date and Reserve Acount whenever I want to ...
is that correct?
Thank you in advance.

I'd advise to stay away from Afternic :( Bad experiences with them in the past

I think you need an offer at Afternic too.

Unless you have a super premium name.

In which case you can contact your account manager at both the places to help you start an auction w/o reserve. Though I feel sedo end prices are generally better for auctions.

Same here. My experience with Afternic was nightmarish.

Hi Archangel & MicroGuy,

Would you share with us your bad experiences with Afternic?

I'd prefer not to. I'm trying to convince myself that it doesn't exist. I'm still in therapy.

Same here. My experience with Afternic was nightmarish.

I have my domains at Afternic now but will be moving them to Sedo soon. I wouldn't recommend Afternic.

If you look at their business structure you will see they do not give much thought to creating a better platform for their customers (from their customers point of view), but would rather allow disfunction towards their bid towards self-satisfaction. Afternic "Caters" to the Buyers arena mostly at the costly "expense" and limitations towards the seller. Afternic also segregates their platforms based on quality and quantity and not particularly by equally "paid" membership. You can buy "kited" or "expiring" domains on their $65 minimum bid platform but don't ask them if you can put your "expiring" domains up on it because it's just not for everyone!
If Afternic had business sense they would have turned their "failed" secondary platform "Afternic Bazaar" into a Bido style platform and their "failed" domain forum into a Namepros style forum. They have gone downhill in my experiences with them. Their original platform when they first started years ago was better than it is now. imo.
